“jody g., new york”
the hotel colon is a lovely hotel with a great location right across from the Cathedral. Our room had a huge balcony. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. Highly recommend this hotel.
“OLD-WORLD HOTEL”
Beautiful, traditional, old-world European style hotel in the Center of Las Ramblas/Gothic Quarter - opposite the cathedral. I arrived a few hours prior to check-in time, but was greeted warmly and accommodated with promt courteous service. I was shown to my room right away and even given an upgrade to a larger room with a sitting area and views of the plaza. The room had 2 large sets of French doors with balconies and I was worried about the noise from the busy plaza outside, but the extra soundproofing glass kept the noise out and I slept soundly. My stay was only one night, but it was very pleasant and I wished I could have stay longer - it was a perfect location for seeing the city.
“Perfect place to stay in Barcelona.”
Situated in the perfect spot for easy access to metro, rail, sightseeing, the Colon Hotel is the perfect place to stay in Barcelona. The hotel overlooks the cathedral and a bustling piazza leading onto narrow streets crammed with souvenir shops, boutiques and eating places. The staff at this hotel are courteous and helpful, the rooms we stayed in were single, and were clean and bright. I would definitely recommend it.
“Perfect location”
Perfect central location, clean and safe with friendly helpful staff. Great value.
“Best Location”
If you are there to sight see, and not sit on the beach, this four star, very comfortable, hotel has the BEST location for sight seeing, in the same plaza as the cathedral in the gothic area. Spend the extra for cathedral view.
“Hotel Colon -convenient location, slose to everything, excellent staff”
My husband and I staye d20th-22 November 2011. We came from our cruise ship E7 fare, and were able to walk to the airport bus at Place Catalanya. The hop on hop off bus was 50 metres away, the Gothic district and La Rambla about 1 minute's walk.Staff were very pleasant and efficient and the room spacious and quiet with double glazing and a balcony overlooking the cathedral. We did not hear a sound at nights. Surrounding us were many places we could get meals and neaby market swith every type of food imaginable. Th edecor was pleasant but overall uninspiring and we really missed the absent tea and coffee making facilities which we have come to expect in a 4 star hotel. I would recommend it.
“perfect ending to a great vacation”
We stayed here for one night after completing a cruise. Arrived about 9:30 am and expected to check our bags and explore the area until our room was ready. We were given a room immediately and even were upgraded to a deluxe room with a great view of the square. Good location, quieter than I thought it would be.
“Very very nice hotel, impressed”
A very very very good hotel, superb location, right opposite the Barcelona Cathedral. Room was luxury, clean and well serviced. I arrived at 2:15pm but the room wasnt ready yet but I wasnt too bothered, they let me store my luggage and took my luggage to the room. Excellent staff, great hotel to stay along with a very satisfying Barcelona trip! Very happy.
“Just gorgeous”
From the moment we arrived I was impressed with the professionalism of the hotel staff. The porters were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The hotel itself was in a perfect position, it was lovely to sit outside on the square in the evenings just watching people go by. It is near shops and restaurants and we found somewhere interesting to go every day within a really short walking distance. It's also just a short walk to the underground train and tourist bus. The standard of cleanliness and general appearance of the Hotel Colon was extremely high. The only tiny drawback was that the bedroom window had no view, but as it was very hot outside we were glad just to sit in the room with the blinds drawn to cool off when we needed to.
“Great hotel staff - an added pleasure”
This hotel is in the "best" location!! All the action in Barcelona is within walking distance. The staff members were some of the best I have ever met---and I travel a lot. I heard that the square outside might be very noisy---not a problem---unless you keep those big wonderful hotel balcony windows open all night. I would definitely go back to the Hotel Colon. I miss it already.

Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Spain: Barcelona's Old Town, the Ciutat Vella takes in the Barri Gòtic and the world-famous promenade of Las Ramblas.
