Property Amenities
Free of use to Hotel 1898's guests, the seasonal rooftop pool and terrace offers sweeping views of the city and out across to the Mediterranean Sea. Complimentary towels are also available, as are sun loungers, and a poolside bar opens from June to October.

Decor is colonial-style with contemporary touches, and includes hardwood floors, dark wood furnishings and dark green, red, black or stone-coloured fabrics. 1898 Restaurant - Wood-floored split-level restaurant, its upper level offering views of La Rambla. Serves breakfast buffets, express breakfasts, and Catalan and international dishes at lunch and dinner.
1898 Bar - Serves a wide variety of drinks and cocktails as well as snacks throughout the day. Colonial-style decor with ceiling fans, deep sofas and rattan chairs.
Recreation
The city's long stretch of man-made sandy beach begins approximately two kilometres from the hotel. The nearest metro stop is Barceloneta (yellow line 3); buses also run from La Rambla. Port Vell and the former Olympic Port (approximately three kilometres away) offer sailing and water sports.

“Surprised and pleased”
Booked this hotel online w/o previous knowledge and were pleasantly pleased. The staff was very helpful with suggestions of places to eat and things to do. The rooms were comfortable, clean and well maintained.
“Great experience”
H1898 was exactly what we were looking for - a beautiful full service hotel in a great part of Barcelona. The staff were very helpful, especially when my husband needed a very large document printed - it was in our hands faster than we could have printed it at home.
“Perfect in every way”
The hotel was very comfortable, excellent service and helpfull staff , we booked our open top bus at the hotel. The roof top terrace is fantastic, very peacefull and the food delicious. I won't bother looking anywhere else, i'll just book in straight there next time i visit Barcelona.
“Fantastic Hotel”
I stayed at the Hotel 1989 in June of this year and had a marvellous time. It is centrally located on La Ramblas and everything is within walking distance. The hotel was very modern and had the most wonderful roof terrace where you could swim, sit and eat. The views of Barcelona were fantastic. I have recommended this hotel to a couple of friends who are going there this year and I would definately stay there again.

“Great location”
A lovely hotel. Room was not overly large but well appointed. Rooftop terrace with pool, large sofas for lounging around and bar was really excellent. Great location - right on La Ramblas. It is true, as I saw from other reviews, that the rooms can be a little noisy - but that is not surprising given you are overlooking a busy street with active nightlife. But it did not disturb us. Would definitely recommend.

“we just had the best of times, definately would go back”
The hotel is one of the best in the city and is expensive but if you want ot be at the centre of things but isolated from the noise and the throng choose the 1898. We enjoyed our stay from first day to last

Hotel 1898 came above our expectations,the quality of the rooms was second to none,with all the added extras you could imagine,including chocolates left, in the evening, by the bed!We booked a classic room & although we did not have a view onto the Ramblas it really did not matter,the rooms are air-conditioned & very quiet at all times.We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Barcelona as not only is it very central but an excellent hotel for quality,cleanliness & facilities. We wish we had taken our swimsuits,the pools looked lovely,when we visit again we will!
“One of the best hotels i've stayed at...”
What a great hotel, went there for our 1st wedding anniversary, and it surpassed all expectations. Great location, understated, superbly designed hotel without the arrogance. Would recommend to anyone.
