“What's not to like!”
Just a spectacular setting on Baddeck Bay. Rooms were set up in a "shot gun" approach so each room could face the water. Excellent idea! Also, room had a front porch. Large rooms and comfortable bed. The dining room was wonderful. We sat at the window over-looking the water. The wait staff couldn't have been better and the salmon was yummy. Very attentive and helpful with information about the area. The front desk clerk was charming and gave us excellent info on visiting places in the area- Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick was a great idea. So glad we went there-it was superb. The only negative about the hotel was it's age. It is starting to show signs that a facelift would cure, but you can't beat the setting.
“My favourite hotel ever!”
From the moment I arrived at this hotel I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who went out of her way to ensure we had a great room. She was also very knowledgeable about the area and gave us lots of tips on what to do while we were there. The room itself was clean and spacious with a fantastic view. The restaurant served tasty reasonably priced food and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. The staff could not do enough to help and I can't wait to go back.
“Great Place to Stay”
Baddeck is great in the off season and the Silver Dart Lodge is completely underrated in all the reviews.
“Great Views...Good Restaurant”
All accommodations have a view of the lake...Room large with balcony & clean. Restaurant v nice with good food & local entertainment. Great location for the Cabot Trail. Gym was very poor - equipment unusable, rusty - more likely to cause injury than help you get fit!! Short running/walking trail at the rear of the resort.
“Great Stay!”
Great location for starting out on the Cabot Trail. The hotel even has an information package available at the desk if you are interested; full of wonderful facts on the places en route. It was a wonderful stay. When we arrived, we were bumped to a water view room because they had rooms available. We enjoyed our stay so much, we stayed a couple extra nights. Each time I went on Expedia and booked the room (much cheaper than booking with the hotel), then went to the office, and they arranged that we could stay in the same room. Very accommodating. Lovely room. Very clean and comfortable and even had a balcony with some comfortable chairs to sit and enjoy the view. Quiet location but close to town. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
“could have stayed longer”
We spent two days on Cape Breton Island which was not enough. The food at the lodge restaurant was very good and there was a celtic singer the night we were there, which kept us out a little later than usual, which was nice. We spent a day at the park, but never had opportunity to tour the rest of the island. A lot of shops and restaurants close down for the season mid October, so we were very fortunate- our timing was perfect and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. the motel has quite a bit of land, with walking trails and one trail that heads right down to the beach with picnic tables and a gazebo- very peaceful and such a nice bonus. If we could have stayed longer it might have been nice to have one of the suites- i saw stacks of firewood for the fireplace and i could see spending several days, just relaxing or getting to know the area better. We loved Nova Scotia!
“The Silver Dart Gets a Gold Star!”
We stayed at Silver Dart on Aug. 28-29, 2010. It is located just on the outskirts of the town of Baddeck and overlooks what I think is St. Ann's Bay. The motel sits on a hill and has a lovely large and sloping front property. Just across the street is the entrance to a short walking path to the shoreline where there are chairs and a fire pit for your use. The motel is not new but very well maintained. The main lodge contains the lobby, a small gift shop, a restaurant with live entertainment some evenings, as well as an outside patio. The restaurant seves breakfast and dinner only. While we were there they were offering a special for only about $5 more on our bill we could both add the breakfast buffet which normally costs $12.99. We enjoyed the breakfast just before heading out to drive the Cabot Trail. The motel staff were all very friendly and accommodating. There is a laundry facility conveniently located near the in ground pool and various types of accommodation choices. We chose a room with a water view on the ground level that had a door out to a small patio. The upper rooms had small terraces with seating. We would definitely stay at Silver Dart again - hopefully during leaf change season when the Cabot Trail will be ablaze with color!
“Warm welcome in Baddeck”
We spent three nights at the Silver Dart Lodge and wished we could have stayed there longer. Our room was very comfortable and had a balcony where we sat in the evening overlooking the lake before going to dinner. All the staff - reception, dining room and cleaners - were really friendly and were always ready to help by answering queries or offering advice on places to go. We enjoyed all our meals at the Lodge where there was a choice of buffet and a la carte menus. In the evening there was a singer who helped to provide a relaxing atmosphere. The surroundings were fantastic and the views from our room and the main dining room were superb. We also enjoyed being able to walk around the grounds in the evening after our meal. There were also bicycles for guests to use although we didn't have time for this. We have already recommended the Silver Dart to friends and family and hope that one day we will have the chance to go back there.
“Great Views”
Nice property. We stayed in the Suites portion. Quiet, plenty of room, and gave us a great view of the water. Restaurant staff was attentive. Food was very good. Great family vacation spot. Pool, exercise facility, expansive lawn area. Would highly recommend it.
“A convenient way to start the Cabot Trail”
Hotel was in a great location to start and complete the Cabot Trail ( going from the east coast ), The hotel gounds were immaculate and purched on a hill top offering a beautiful view of the coastal inlet waters. The lodge had a variety of accomodations from Motel style rooms to cabins and newer suites. We were in the older section but the room was large, clean and suited our one night stay at a reasonable cost. Lake view was an additional cost. There was a good restaurant on sight and downtown Baddek with a variety of charming eating places was close by. Overall a good stay
