“No Issues Here”

Clean and Smoke Free. Not much to say except I spent 5 nights without any issue. The restaurant serves great food though the menu is a bit small. The Hot Tub and Pool are great additions as well. It's a $5 taxi ride to the Halifax Shopping Center Area. A little more with traffic.

“great value for money”

Had an Expedia only sale price, which made the decision easy. Paid half what others did! Breakfast buffet was great, hotel is close to the roundabout, made getting around town easier than being downtown!

“As good as Chocolate”

I recommend this hotel as long as you have your own car or are willing to cab it as the the location is good on a lake but not downtown. Compromise is more than worth it for room rates and included hot breakfast and free parking. And Coco the very mellow chocolate Lab lends an air of friendliness as do the serving staff at the restaurant. Rooms were fully renovated at some point and were well appointed. Close to Bayers Lake and Halifax Shopping Centre.

“Best Best Western so Far”

I Have been to Best Western hotels in Hooksett and Waltham, and this one was the best looking. Friendly staff.

“Not Impressed”

At this hotel for a 3 day stay, returned to our room the second evening to find our door UNLOCKED and open. Apparently, housekeeping didn't pull it closed and left it unlocked the entire day with all of our stuff inside. Not impressed, hotel lobby didn't really seem to care....offered nothing. Other than that major whoops, it is a very lovely hotel. Great breakfast buffet in the mornings for guests.

“A Great Value”

If you don't need to stay in the downtown core, and have access to a vehicle, this hotel is worth checking into. The very reasonable rates include parking and breakfast; the view of the lake is superb; and the staff extremely friendly. I have to make a special mention of the restaurant. The meals served there are delicious and are of a standard not usually found in a hotel restaurant. And although not in the downtown core, it does not take long to get there, perhaps 10 minutes by car. The hotel is also located on a route that is easily accessible from the airport. It is also easy to head out of town if you want to explore other communities like Peggy's Cove. I would not hesitate to stay here again. It was fantastic!

“Will return someday despite....”

Arrived on Sep 30 after a long, tiring ride only to be treated rudely & unprofessionally by the front desk clerk. To make it worse, she sent me to the wrong building, went back down, did not apologized and simply directed me to the right one. Always believe you should treat people that way you want to be treated. Hotel hotel was beautiful, homey, clean and represented by a wonderful dog Cocoa. Has a salt water pool, games room, hot tub, guest laundry, restaurant on site, complimentary breakfast, free parking and a great view of Chocolate Lake. Despite the cold welcome at check-in, received friendly, accommodatingl and professional service from most staff. Sara had all these qualities, always smiled and provided great service. Had 2 meals in the restaurant and food was fine nothing fancy. Free breakfast had sausage, bacon, eggs, breads, cereals, juices, coffee, tea and fruits. Room was very clean, pillows soft, bed comfortable, had a flat screen TV, free wifi, free local calls, small fridge, coffeemaker and microwave. Requested a room with a lake view prior my arrival instead received the road view (did not bother with it at check-in). Hotel has 2 computers and printer for surfing or do an airline check in. Convenience store and subway beside the hotel. Checked-out and was happy to be served by Sara and Cocoa. Their dog was sweet, adorable and made all the guests happy. Left on October 3, would return and stay at this hotel again if I ever visit Halifax.

Area recommendations

All the attractions and sights are in downtown Halifax. Transit is the best way to see them as it is difficult to find parking and expensive. Bring your camera!

Getting there

From airport to the hotel is about 45 minutes by car, shuttle or taxi. The shuttle service from the airport does not service this hotel. So you will need to be dropped off or picked up from a hotel they service then take the transit or taxi. This hotel to downtown is 10 minutes by car, 20 minutes by transit and is too far to walk it. Transit is right in front of the hotel. Closest mall was the Halifax Shopping Centre and it has everything.
