“Nefeli in the Plaka basic and convenient”
The hotel is a basic, clean 2-star hotel. Rooms are small, but were clean, and extra pillows available when we asked. Desk staff were helpful when asked for anything - taxi, directions, dinner recommendations. The local is excellent for tourists, within walking distance of all major sights and yet on quiet side street.
“Only Hotel I'll Stay in Greece”
Overall, the hotel could not have been more perfect for me as a young traveler. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the service was polite and accomodating and the neighbors had a lot of character (if you stay there try to meet Tom, he's a hoot). I think if I were older I might complain about the size of everything. The elevator is tiny. You're only going to fit one person with a normal luggage load. The shower was small even for a single person and the room fits the bed and not much else. But, for me that was all I needed. I had a 'balcony'/Window I could open up in the mornings and look out into the street and sit on the ledge with a cigarette. The breakfast in the morning was great! Not American though. It is literally a bunch of different types of bread and a hard boiled egg. As an American I wasn't really satisfied but it was good food and I had more than enough to eat every morning. I thought this was a great place to stay! We could walk anywhere we wanted in Athens from here. It was less than five minutes from the train station, seven minutes from the Acropolis, close to the government buildings, the flea market, many Orthodox churches, etc... there was a lot to see within walking distance, forget about taking the train anywhere. The two best things about this hotel were the many restaurants right down the street (beautiful outdoor seating and good food, etc...) and Tom who is literally right outside the entrance:) Hope you get a chance to enjoy!
“Great Location”
I highly recommend this hotel in the charming, safe, Plaka neighborhood. It was just a few minutes walk from the Acropolis and equally close to the main Syntagma metro station. The hotel website has a simple map to help you get to it from the metro. You'll also need a detailed map to navigate the labyrinth of Plaka's streets. It was a clean and simple, Eurpean-style hotel. It is perfect if you only plan to spend time in the hotel for sleeping. Cons: Bring your earplugs if you're a light sleeper. It was quiet, but the hallway was noisy and the walls thin, but I wasn't bothered. The mattresses and pillows were rather firm.
“Brilliant Location”
Would definitely stay at Nefeli again-close to everything and owners very helpful. Location on edge of Plaka was perfect for us and very easy to find from express bus stop @ Syntagma Square. Room cool and quiet, bathroom as expected for Greece! 5 minute walk to all the restarants and shops and not much further to Acropolis. Perfect!!
“Convenient Hotel in Athens”
We needed a non-expensive hotel to spend a day in Athens followed by our Mediterranean cruise. Nefeli was the one. It's very conveniently located. It takes 5 min walk from Syntagma Square and 10-15 min walk to Acropolis. The hotel is clean, its staff is friendly, breakfast is not bad. The only problem is Athens itself due to endless strikes. We were lucky that we arrived to Athens when publc transportation workers were not on strike so we took Metro to get to the hotel from the airport. But the next day they were on strike so the hotel staff helped us get a taxi to get go the port of Pireaus..
“nefelli, athens, greece”
the location was in the 'dumps'... the proprietor was NOT very polished in communication... this is a very economical hotel, in poor neighborhood; but the price was 'cheap'-- that is about all. there was an excuse of a shower, no self-respecting american will use that shower, less than two-foot square !!! The breakfast was acceptable. Even the tourist office had difficulty, at first, to locate it on the map. will I ever go back to THIS hotel ? A definitely, positively NO.

Area:
Plaka, Athens, Greece: Quaint and touristy, Athens oldest residential quarter sits in the shadow of the Acropolis. Plakas narrow cobbled streets are lined with bougainvillea-clad neoclassical mansions, souvenir shops and pseudo-traditional tavernas, some with live music. A village atmosphere prevails, despite the crowds. Close to all the top sights, it makes the best base for a short stay.
