Booked through Expedia and paid upfront, showed receipt on arrival but staff insisted that we needed to put a credit card on file and they would ‘hold’ the full amount again, which we did. A few days later the full payment came out of the credit card again, spoke to Expedia who said they couldn’t understand the people on reception but would try to look into it - even after sending both sets of receipts. Still haven’t got a refund for the overpayment and not sure I will.
As a side note, I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again anyway. We’ve stayed at plenty of Ibis, this is without a doubt the worst. Shower directly in the room with a half glass door separating it from the bedroom, awful damp smell… on the plus side the surrounding area is lovely.
