Really cute hotel in a great location with a park, cafes, restaurants all within walking location

Clean room, friendly staff, and great for traveling with an infant!

The resort was lovely for the most part. The grounds and the common spaces were beautiful and well-kept. They were all peaceful and family-friendly. There are multiple pools (only one is heated) and the beach/ocean is only a short walk away. Our room was nice and had everything we needed. Unfortunately, housekeeping lacked a little to be desired (we watched the same piles of sand and debris on the bathroom floor stay put there our entire stay). One day we even had to call close to 5:00 to see if housekeeping was planning on coming. The resort boasts several restaurants but not all were family friendly. We ate off-resort for the majority of our stay since we were tired of pizza. A couple last things we will mention for those looking to stay… beware of the resort fees that are charged every day and then are also taxed. Ours were right under $100/day. They also tell you that you need to valet your car with them ($35/day I believe). You are able to self-park if you so desire. We decided that next time we visit the area, we will VRBO as the resort didn’t offer all that much for the prices that they asked.

The elevator was broken. We were told that had been struck by lightning. I was also told that it had been broken for one year. They have three floors almost 2 of the buildings and I think two on the other, but I don’t know if they meant elevators in the building that we were in or every single one wasn’t clarified also told that they were having a New Year’s Eve celebration. Nothing was held in the lobby as previously expected the restaurant on site closed at 9 PM New Year’s Eve and we were rushed like you wouldn’t believe for six course meal that cost $300.

We booked a room for our anniversary. We are Raleigh natives and have always wanted to stay here but I think our expectations were too high. We couldn’t book a couples massage b/c we were told they get booked 2 months out. We had ants on our balcony. I was told check in was at 3:00 but we didn’t get to check in till 3:45. The staff at the front desk were snotty but the room service staff and cleaning staff were excellent. Being our anniversary and we had to ask if we could have a glass of champagne that was at the front desk at arrival. They have a neat fire pit for wedding parties only- it would be nice if they had those all along the outdoor patio for all guests of enjoy. The tv is dated and the soaking tub is not large enough for 2. I will say the robes were very nice.

Shops on campus are very nice and upscale. Sweet water cafe across the street from main entrance is good for a quick breakfast. Also, try Millers on King St for breakfast.

Phenomenal all around. I got it at a really good rate, but you didn’t hire rates it’s worth every penny than to not have to deal with the properties around it.
