« We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Castillo. The terrace had an amazing view of Arenal volcano, and we saw so many birds in the backyard. It was amazing to have coffee in morning and watch clouds roll through valley and listen to birdsong. The location is convenient for getting to Fortuna and nearby parks for hiking, but Castillo feels much more quaint and quiet for enjoying peaceful evenings. « We were greeted by Bella, the family's dog. She followed us everywhere for the 2 days we were there. The house is big, great for large groups. Kitchen is alright. It could be cleaner overall but nothing gross. You gotta be ready to deal with bugs as they're big gaps under the doors. No mesh in the windows. « Daniela was an excellent host. We had a nail in a tire and her father came to the rescue. The communication and support from the host was "second to none". The setting was in the middle of the rainforest with decks on every side of the house. Each time we went out we saw and heard birds and one time even had monkeys entertain us. « The property is whimsical and charming, but a lot of stairs and different areas are not connected to each other. Fairly close to town and some shops and coffee houses. Great views of the forest. Loved hearing the birds in the morning. The kitchenette was bare bones and not easy to cook in. We ended up going out for more meals than we planned on. »
