The family dog is also welcome to come along for an additional nightly fee. This cabin for seven lies on five acres of shaded woods less than a mile from Ockenden. Both the woods and the charming town are great for strolling, but if you want more excitement, you can always head north. Shaver Lake Village features shopping and dining opportunities throughout the year. It's also a good home base for visiting the lake of the same name in the summer. If it's too cold and snowy for picnics and swimming, China Peak Mountain Resort has skiing only 30 miles away. Whether your vacation is in summer sunshine or winter snow, this cabin will have you feeling nice and relaxed when you come home after a long day out. Breathe in some fresh air on the deck as you watch branches sway in the wind, before heading inside to the plush leather sectional inside to relax. It was slightly snowing when we arrived during a valentine's getaway and the driveway is really long and steep so we had to shovel the snow out but thankfully they had all the supplies we needed in a little shed outside the cabin. For a cabin that is pet friendly it was really clean! There was no sign of any pets left before. Both bathrooms downstairs and upstairs were very clean and tidy, along with having extra toiletries, you couldnt run out of toilet paper or towels. The kitchen was very clean and we brought lots of food to cook with and forgot kitchen supplies but luckily the kitchen was stocked up with everything needed. Lots of pots/pans, spoons/forks, cups, everything. The house provided everything needed for a cozy weekend getaway. There was a nice fireplace and the outside was beautifully covered in snow with lots of chairs to sit on and a grill we barbecued on. The wifi and tv worked right when connected, and it was nice that the house is so private, but also only a 5-7 minute drive to local stores to get amenities from, or to go to a cute little dinner/brunch spot. We saw a coyote and deer and found bones in the forest near the cabin. If we had not gotten fresh now there was no where to sled near the house with our 4 year old. After the fresh snow we used the driveway because it is steep. But all that fun we had sledding in the driveway is also why we got stuck. Our all wheel drive suv could not make it up the muddy slippery driveway after it had been plowed. We had to go get chains. The driveway is in desperate need of being repaved. There are cracks in the drywall in some of the rooms but mostly the upstairs loft. The central heat does not go to the 2 down stairs bedrooms and you need the space heaters. There was no hand soap or garbage bags provided. I would NOT recommend this. cabin to families with young children that just want to play in the snow. Being on my a steep hillside with a lot of trees and places to fall was not great with our kids. And while being surrounded by nature is beautiful it is also scary. One night when taking the dog out to potty she started growling at something in the dark I could not see while we were still on the deck. ##### Michelle S. It fit our needs almost perfectly with the only exception being that the kitchen was lacking a few basic items like scissors and sharp knives. The cabin itself is simple and secluded. The photos don’t do it justice and the woods surround the whole property. There is a small yellow jacket 🐝 problem but as long as we didn’t eat out on the deck it was okay. It was a great cabin to stay in to build memories as a family. We loved this cabin inside and out. Kids want to visit again next year. Everything inside was clean and comfy. Loved that dishes and all was there. Was lil scared when it would shake I guess cause it's standing on logs. But it was beautiful to wake up and see all our surroundings with trees. Found 3 spiders so we was being cautious with our lil one and ourselves we are allergic to spider bites. So we would check around and kill them . But over all stay amazing for our family. ##### Paulina L.
