"The location and price for Soho54 were/are both great - near NYU is ideal for our purposes. The room was clean, the shower was great. It could probably use a bit of love -- the paint and carpet look a bit tired, our door took an extra pull to get it shut, but we just wanted a clean place to shower and sleep and Soho54 fit the bill perfectly. One thing I absolutely hate (and this is not unique to S54), you see the price including all taxes and assume that's it -- then on check in you get the 'resort fee' or 'amenity fee' or whatever they call it - an extra charge for the exercise room in the dungeon and the coffee machine in the room. Really? At $40/night, should have new coffee machines and exercise equipment every week! I hate sneaky fees, and 'amenity fees' are exactly that."

Facilities & Maintenance The most significant issue occurred during my morning routine. Halfway through my shower, the hot water completely cut out. Dealing with a cold shower in the middle of a New York trip was a major inconvenience and a disappointment for a hotel in this category. Final Verdict If you are looking for a reliable, "no-frills" spot that covers the basics, this hotel is a decent choice. It is an okay stay for a short trip, provided you don't mind calling down to the front desk for those small missing items."

"Hotel was in a good neighborhood but it was over priced for what it was. But that’s to be expected in NYC. The reservation said we would get a $36 food and beverage credit but no one offered it or seemed to know anything about it."

"1st night the bathroom door wouldn’t shut, the phone didn’t work, streaming didn’t work and there was a roach that crawled out of the woodwork. The engineer came up twice. They were able to fix the door but nothing else. Next morning they changed our room. We had to store our bags and then move them again. The second room was fine, but the experience put a dent in our enjoyment of the trip."
