Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Holmon?
The best area to stay in Holmon is the main village, particularly around the harbour and the area known as Byviken.

This is the island's central hub, where most of the services and accommodation options are located. You'll find the general store, a restaurant, and the ferry terminal here. The layout is quite compact, making it easy to walk to everything. The harbour area is picturesque, with traditional fishing boats and views towards the open sea.

For couples seeking a peaceful and scenic escape, staying in the main village is ideal. You'll be close to the small museum, the lighthouse, and various walking paths that crisscross the island, offering opportunities for quiet strolls and birdwatching. The convenience of having the few dining options and the shop nearby means you can truly relax and enjoy the island's calm pace.

Families will also find the main village to be a good fit. With the ferry arriving and departing from here, it's very convenient for travel with children.
When is the best time to go to Holmon?
The best time to visit Holmon is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is at its most pleasant.

During this period, the island experiences long daylight hours and milder temperatures, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and exploring the Holmon Archipelago. The ferry services from the mainland also run more frequently in the summer, offering convenient access to the island.

Couples looking for a peaceful getaway will appreciate the relaxed pace and natural beauty of Holmon in summer. You can enjoy strolls along the coast, discover secluded beaches, or take boat trips to nearby islands. The island's small cafes and restaurants are typically open, providing a comfortable dining experience.

For those interested in wildlife and nature photography, the summer offers the best opportunities to observe local birdlife and enjoy the lush scenery.
