The weather played a major factor. The hotel was ok a bit rustic they upgraded me to a suite but it didn't have any wifi or a working television. The food was amazing but there was little to do as far as excursions. The staff was very kind and were working hard to help us but this definitely fell short of 4 stars which I was expecting. I enjoyed a 4-day, 3-night stay at this beautiful and wonderfully atmospheric hotel. The hotel sprawls over a large area, with magnificent lush greenery to create a tranquil oasis in the heart of town. The buildings/grounds are meticulously kept, and if you venture out of your room early enough, you'll see the on-site staff raking up every leaf that has fallen overnight. The pool is super-clean. You can enjoy roaming around the property taking in the character, scenery, art, historical pieces, and various cozy seating areas. The main building (with the reception area and the restaurant) is mostly surrounded by a covered terrace, with overhead fans and open on the sides with plenty of comfortable chairs in which to relax and enjoy quiet conversation and drinks. There are various room sizes available. I found my room to be clean, and with great hot-water pressure and amenities. In-room lights and fans work all day, but the AC in each room functions only in the evening and morning hours from about 7pm to 6:30am, which is totally fine (I think most/all other hotels in the city use similar generator systems and hours of operation). Almost no insects did I see at the hotel, though that might vary based on the time of year visiting; use bug repellant as desired. The front-desk staff and the other workers were great. All were very nice, friendly, and cheerful to help and welcome you."
