Menger Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Beautiful historic hotel. We were in the Victorian section and although the room had been updated the shower was not ideal with a retro fitted shower head that was about 5 ft tall. The elevator for our section was not functional, and we had to walk around the floor to an elevator on the opposite side of the hotel. I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years, but this was the first time staying on the original Victorian section."

"It was a very underwhelming stay. Staff didn't have answers to our questions and seemed really under trained (We asked about simple things like if they had laundry service or when housekeeping usually came). Our room didn't seem like it was cleaned well, long black hairs were randomly all over the bathroom (I am a ginger and my husband is bald). They also did not vacuum every time they cleaned. Our balcony door was not sealed well, we could see lots of light coming through the seams and had to get rid of a few bugs every day in our room. We only received one robe for two guests. There is no mini fridge. They also charge a "destination fee". Just put the whole price up front, I find it disrespectful to price it this way. The valet staff was very nice and I did appreciate them opening the doors and helping with luggage. The rooms were cutely decorated. It was close to the river walk but honestly there's so many hotels on the river I can't think of any reason to pick this one over them."

"Family friendly, wonderful time for children. Smores and outdoor movies were nice. The building was dated but very clean and maintained very well. The air conditioner was great, which was very important after being in the Texas heat all day. I loved the suite we were in. The location was perfect for Schlitterbaun."

"We had to wait 30+ mins at checkin time because no one was there , and it was really hot and no AC in the lobby . our room was the worst . the AC cover was broken , missing chair and table, the rolling blind is not working (so we couldn't roll it up ) , missing hand towels and hand soap . the telephone in the room not working so we have to go down to request stuff"

"Very spacious room, love the apartment feel. New modern kitchen and decor. Bed design is cute but mattress was not the best. Typical hotel mattress, sheets and covers are soft. Clean bedding and showers. Smells good in the rooms. Great storage for extended stay! Definitely easy access to local attractions. Easy for families, and military."
