It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. Great location if you do not mind the late night noise. Parking is not available unless you pay for a parking pass through the property. Parking would be extremely difficult without the pass so I highly recommend. There are 2 flights of several stairs to get to the unit so keep that in mind when renting. The bed is small and not the best. The place worked for our visit. We had 2 night stay. ##### Patti F. It was clean, comfortable, and had all the basics needed to make it a nice stay. The owner was great with communication and very accommodating. There are two sets of rather steep stairs to the apartment.
