"An elegantly appointed fairly formal country house in a beautiful rural setting, not far from a tiny small village. The rooms are comfortable and the hosts provide a great breakfast. Access to and from the property from the A roads was interesting to say the least. Single lane “roads” for the 2 miles either side of the property require a fair degree of both caution and concentration. Some parts will barely allow a car to pass. That said, it is worth the trip. Just do it slowly!"

"Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff, clean room, very comfortable bed, excellent shower, delicious breakfast. Reasonably priced restaurant with a good range of quality food for your evening meal. We were only there for the one night visit because we wanted to see the shoebill stork at Exmoor Zoo but would definitely return if we going to be in the area again."

"Clean and presentable hotel right in the heart of Barnstaple. The only reason I have dropped a star is that on a warm summer evening the rooms (no a/c) do get very stuffy even with the window wide open and the fan on. The extractor fan noise from outside then doesn’t help when you’re already struggling to sleep. The restaurant is absolutely amazing!"

"Northfield was delightful! I wish every hotel was filled with such kind workers and friendly staff. The food was very good. This hotel even hired a musician to entertain its guests. This staff goes above and beyond to make sure their visitors have an enjoyable stay. The room was very large with a beautiful ocean view. The hotel was clean and tidy. I give this hotel 5 stars!"
