Pearl By The Sea has long been a favorite vacation home because of its seaside cottage charm and all the many fun amenities. The sounds of the Atlantic Ocean reverberate from the multilevel wraparound decks. The well-equipped kitchen with ample cookware and utensils, breakfast bar, and eat-in kitchen table open up to the roomy dining area and spacious great room with vaulted two-story ceilings and a 60-inch Smart HDTV. This very design keeps the family together while cooking and watching TV or just taking in the awesome ocean air. Pearl By The Sea accommodates large family groups with comfort and convenience all around. The extra refrigerator downstairs, plus a convection oven to assist in bigger meal preparation whether you're looking to whip up some surf and turf or a big family breakfast. A poolside barbecue is just what the doctor ordered! Rest and relax poolside with the comforts of a poolside shower, hot/cold water, and a private dressing area. Although, some in the family may decide to duck out of the sun and enjoy the rec room with half bath, wet bar, refrigerator, foosball, and board games! When it's time to say goodnight to yet another glorious beach day of sun and fun, you will all be comfortably accommodated by the eight spacious bedrooms, many with private access to the decking, breezy ceiling fans, and the large loft area with three futons. The first level has two large bedrooms (a queen primary bedroom with a private bath and a 40-inch Smart HDTV, located across the breezeway near the pool) and a second primary bedroom with a private bath, 50-inch Smart HDTV, one queen bed with a second twin with trundle). The second level has two queen bedrooms, one with a 32' wall-mounted HDTV. There is a king bedroom with a new 32' wall-mounted HDTV. The kids will love the bunkie room with a twin bunk set and two twin beds. The third level has one king bedroom with a new 32' flat panel TV wall mounted with a private bath and across the other side of the loft is another bunkie room with two more sets of twin bunk beds. One of the bunks has a twin trundle bed as well. Then in the main area of the loft there are two queen futons and one double futon with a 40' wall-mounted Smart HDTV. THINGS TO KNOW The pool will be open from late April through early/mid-October. This property is managed by Vacasa Virginia LLC. Large house with lots of beds for a long weekend with the extended family. Air conditioning worked well and there was plenty of hot water. Landscaping was above average for the neighborhood and there was a little grocery store a mile down the road that saved us a 20 minute drive to the next nearest shopping area. Pool was nice but filled with leaves and a live crab that the pool service missed. Bedding and furnishings were well worn. Some lightbulbs were burned out and several of the ceiling fans didn't work. Spiders hanging in a couple entryways and a few ants in the kitchen - no apparent pest control service. The house was not clean - “surface clean” at most. The house definitely needs some upgradingTLC. The beds are old and hard. A lot of the mini blinds were broken and had missing blinds. The AC unit needed to replace- an HVAC was needed. The wanted to have an HVAC person come and fix the unit but someone had to be at the home while it was being fixed- it was a huge inconvenience- we declined. No hot water in the evenings for showers. Those things were definitely deal breakers for us - so we won’t be returning to this particular home.I do want to note that some people mentioned cleanliness in their reviews- I reached out to the property prior to our stay. They assured me that the home would be clean- it was a disappointment that they did not hold up on their end.Spoke with Vrbo and they offered and refund for all the inconveniences although I have not received anything as of yet. Also no email of the conversation or agreement to refund me was received- although the representative stated she would provide it. I did save screenshots of the conversation and will follow up with Vrbo regarding this. ##### Christine L. Received a call while in route to the house that the dish washer was broken. Upon arrival we were surprised to see how dirty the house was. Sure it was lightly vacuumed, but at some point before our arrival we found something sticky was on the floor wall and ceiling in the kitchen area. Some pots had food encrusted on them, oven was pretty dirty, Mold in a couple of the bathrooms, some strange stains on the comforter on one of the beds, one bedroom had water stains on the ceiling and on the mattress below. Rusty nails on the driveway and around the outside, a rusty broken bicycle outside. Nothing included in the kitchen like coffee or spices. Overall the house was very dirty. On our last day at about 7:00am we were surprised by contractors working on the outside of the house at the level where bedrooms were. We were never informed at anytime workers would be coming out. Fortunately, I was able to convince the workers to wait to work on the upper levels until we had a chance to get everyone up. You’ll get one trash bag and one roll of toilet paper in each bathroom. Pictures are very old everything has aged a lot since especially the outside of the house. House was roomy and I wouldn’t have complained too much at all if it wasn’t for the leak in one of the two bathrooms on the main floor. That bathroom was out of commission and very inconvenient, but the worst part was the water all leaked downstairs. It pretty much flooded the kitchenette downstairs and got my MacBook Pro wet. After 2 weeks I get a call from vacasa saying the leak wasn’t too bad, even when I showed a video of the water pouring out, and it was my fault we left the MacBook there. They told me it was my fault we let the water run when we were eating dinner and after we went downstairs and found it like that. Don’t rent vacasa homes, they don’t clean too well and they don’t maintain the property. They will try to not take blame for their wrongdoings and put it in you. ##### Hyung-Jun M. Place could use some maintenance and could have been cleaner. Ceiling leaked in first floor bathroom and rods fell off the walls, broken blinds, broken toilet seat, bed frame broken Bathroom rugs and floors dirty. Pots and pans dirty. We loved staying so close to the beach and found this home comfortable for our three families. Perfect number of bedrooms and bathrooms and the couch was perfect for us all. The kitchen was a little tight but we made it work (we love to cook together). The only downside was the kitchen was missing a can opener. I would definitely recommend staying here. ##### KIMBERLY W. Entry door area could be cleaned and painted instead of looking barley functional compared to the other houses on the street. A nice upgrade would be fans in the bathrooms. 😏 I liked that there were 2 refrigerators (1 side-by-side and 1 freezer on top). This enabled room for our large pans. The pool and grill were nice as was the fenced-in yard. Easy beach access. ##### Janel S. After that there are not many positives. Shower curtains in more than one bathroom had black mold. Management delivered new curtains which we had to install. Dirty cloths from previous guests were found in bedroom drawer. AC did not work in south wing of home. Contractor came out and cleared condenser line but forgot to reattach it which led to water leak in bedroom ceiling. We called maintenance who drove out and parked in street but never came in. One of our guest had to crawl in the service panel to repair the detached piping. Washing machine drum bushing is failing. Repairman came and said only to wash one towel at a time. House can accommodate large group however the grill was 18" x12" and was filthy. New grill was delivered the day before we left. The pool is missing the safety rail for the steps. One person in our party slipped going into the pool. Luckily they did not get insured. Many in our party got ill during our stay. I suspect mold was to blame and have a sneaky suspicion the air filters have not been cleaned in some time. The property needs better oversight and an investment in maintenance to bring it up to a satisfactory level. ##### Anne L. It layout had plenty of communal space but bedrooms also allowed private retreat for our adult children and spouses. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes-there was nothing we needed that we didn't find-and all of it was in really good shape. The beach is just across the street and the view from the front bedrooms and common areas was spectacular-clear to the waves crashing on the sand. We visited at Christmas and mid-Covid, so no crowds on the beach and we didn't explore much else in the neighborhood. ##### Anne H. Repairs to the fence were quickly done. The pool took longer understandably and I’m sure the cleaning crew had to rush due to the evacuation. The location to the beach was perfect with two small children. Enjoyed the corn hole and our large dinners together. ##### Cynthia R.
