Everything about the host and the unit with one important exception was wonderful. Stunning fourth-floor views from your end unit feels like a penthouse. Cindy (host) was in easy, appropriate and helpful communication with us through check-in. Clear and detailed welcome PDF they sent as well. The issue was the elevator was out, and according to two different security guards had been out at least a week prior, of which we were not informed. Both guards also seemed to think it would not be running again any time soon. For us, one guest does have foot and back issues, but she toughed out the steep climb up four (really five) stories. Our friends - had the reservation been in their name - might have cancelled, demanded a discount, who knows. But again, while that elevator issue is to a degree out of the owner control, I cannot believe they did not know. When mentioned the response was "Darn! Have a safe ride home." If you have a wheelchair or older guest this would be even more important to know ahead of time. Had the elevator not been out it would have been perfect. And I share this to safeguard the next guest, as I do not appreciate rolling the dice to avoid a cancellation. Otherwise the unit is gorgeous and clearly well cared for with personal attention, even. So the elevator thing is a true shame, but I believe any guest should be told in advance or provided some kind of allowance for the unexpected trouble.
