The 180-degree views are spectacular from the common areas with a full wall of glass doors! Grab your morning coffee and sit on the expansive deck to watch the colorful sun rise over the horizon. Take a walk down the stairs and your toes are in the white sandy beach. And the beach— with the limited public access — is perfect for shell hunting, fishing, swimming, surfing, or just sitting! Spend the day watching the tide going out of the Inlet creating tide pools to wade in and then watch the tide rise as the waves splash against “The Rocks” - limestone and coquina formations. The beach seems to change every day. Finish your day with dinner — either cooked in your well- equipped kitchen or from one of the great local restaurants — taking in the pink and blue hues as the sun sets on a perfect Summer Haven day. The third floor walk-up has an open concept living space with volume ceilings is great to gather for dinner after a day on the beach or to watch the big game. When it is time to rest, the condominium has two large bedrooms -- one bedroom with a king bed and the second with two full size beds. For added flexibility, there is also a large sleeping nook accessed from the living/tv room (see images). The nook has a twin and full bed with a small sitting area. Summer Haven Beach is located just south of Saint Augustine historic district by about 10 minutes. There are plenty of attractions near the rental – Fort Matanzas, Marineland, Fishing, State Parks, to name a few. If there is more, you are seeking, it is more you shall find. Head into Saint Augustine for some history and shopping. Continue north a bit for Jacksonville, and maybe take in a Jacksonville Jaguars NFL team. Possibly a round of golf in Sawgrass Ponte Vedra, or 18 holes at the World Golf Village? Head south from the vacation rental to hit Flagler Beach, Daytona Beach, and eventually, Cape Canaveral. All within a short drive. Orlando theme parks like Disney and Universal Studios are just a day trip away. Relax at the beach, hit the theme parks, and come back for more relaxation at Crescent Beach. My husband and i stayed with our 19 and 21 year old sons and our two dachshunds. The beach is fantastic and dog friendly. It was not crowded. The covered porch is awesome and i stayed out there most of the time. My sons enjoyed surfing and being in the water. The covered parking was large enough to fit our yukon xl suv. We did not use the pool. The condo was stocked with everything you need for cooking. There were alot of stairs but we knew that from reading other reviews. May 2, 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location #### Best beach in Florida - but a couple of concerns Matanzas is the most unique beach in this part of Florida and a wonderfully secluded location for a getaway. We love the location, the view, the direct access to the beach, the quiet of neighborhood and the layout of the condo. But please beware of a couple of major drawbacks. First, the third sleeping area is completely ridiculous. It is a mechanical closet with two beds crammed in- no ventilation or fan, and not tall enough for an adult to stand up in. No closet or stand for a suitcase, no electrical outlet. And no actual stairs to get into the space which makes it incredibly dangerous. It was not at all described accurately online. This is appropriate only for kids but even then totally not to code. In addition the third floor is not accessible at all for anyone with mobility issues. Both interior and exterior stairs are steep and numerous - not pictured in the listing or described - it was difficult to manage for two of our guests. Finally, bring supplies - there was very little paper products, soap or detergents for 5 people staying 5 days. ##### Theresa B. So, we had a bit of snag with our check in process as we asked for early check in, which was originally confirmed and then we were told we could not check in as early as we wanted and early check in was not guaranteed. This was a little annoying as we had confirmed the early check in the day before we left. That is the reason for the 3 stars. Otherwise, the keycode system couldn't have been easier. The only other gripe is the bed mattress in the master was a bit worn out and lumpy. That said, the early check in and the bed were minor blips on the radar once you take everything into account. We had an amazing time and the place is as advertised. Yes, lots of stairs, but we absolutely loved being able to walk right down the stairs onto the beach, and they were only really a pain when bringing suitcases up on the first day. Other than that, not an issue at all... assuming you don't have any elderly folks in your group who can't do stairs...but the view you get from climbing those stairs can't be beat, and the deck is so inviting since you have a roof overhead. Finally, location, location, location... this place is in the coolest, private, chill spot, and not far from restaurants, Publix or even downtown St. Augustine. If you are looking for crowds, go to St. Augustine, but if you are looking for a peaceful getaway where the kids and the dog have the beach mostly to themselves, then come here, you won't regret it! The view from the back deck was beautiful and provided quick access to the beach. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment and the outside closet had a great variety of beach toys. Sitting on the top floor deck, you can see the sweeping views up and down the beach. Not only do you get access to a private beach, the oceanfront changes daily to give you new areas to explore. It is in close proximity to excellent restaurants and other sightseeing events like the lighthouse, alligator zoo, and fun mini golf. Wonderfully relaxing place to stay. Condo has everything you need for a great vacation. Private covered balcony makes this idyllic - we spent 95% of our time out there, the shade was great and the height (yes - worth every one of the steps) means there always a beautiful ocean breeze! The website shows extra beds which were actually in a closet complete with duct work. Two adults slept there which was very challenging. Overall, it’s acceptable for the purposes we had. ##### Ann D. It’s right on the beach and there are usually very few people, so it’s very relaxing and beautiful.
