We had another enjoyable stay overall at the George and Dragon with good beers available and an excellent dinner. The indifferent greeting from the young man on reception was not ideal however after a long journey travelling from Scotland but the helpful and indeed cheerful barman more than made up for it. Our room decor and furnishings were of a high standard but let down by a toilet seat that had split and become loose, used cotton buds in the bathroom bin, a shower control that was stiff to operate and the shower head was so loose that it kept falling back down the rail. There is inevitable traffic noise from 6 am onwards in the rooms at the front but the breakfast was excellent.

Would definitely recommend and stay again. Very comfortable bed with crisp white bedding. Spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Evening meal was excellent and the breakfast was very good. Meals were beautifully presented and very tasty! Perfect stop over on our way back to Poole in Dorset after doing the NC500. Dogs get their own bowl, blanket and treats! (There is a £20 per night charge for a dog)

A very warm welcome on arrival it had a friendly feel about it. Our room was spotless with mixture of modern and old, plenty of refreshment choices also fabulous shower gel and shampoo provided. Breakfast was included and didn’t disappoint well worth adding when booking. Great location for the nature of our visit and as it is pet friendly we will be bringing our dog next time

Great little stopover

We only needed a place for a one-off stopover and the George and dragon fitted the bill perfectly. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and the staff were very attentive and helpful. Recommended
