They are all extremely convenient to the various archaeological sites (in this case Palenque), and very affordable - particularly for international travelers, but they are also intended to be within the reach of national tourists - while providing the full amenities of a five star resort: gym, pool, balcony, excellent food, gorgeous gardens, etc. Staff is very helpful and accommodating. Also, I'll note the hotel itself wasn't at all crowded during the 2025 winter holidays, making it still a bit of a hidden gem. If you are the kind of person that wants to support the Mexican democratic socialism project (4T), that's also an additional reason to stay here. However, to be honest, these hotels are a great deal regardless of one's politics. I've stayed in two Hotel Mundo Maya hotels and found both of them similarly excellent (they are very much built and run along a similar template). I would strongly recommend considering them if visiting any of the Mayan ruins across the train route! For this one in particular, the Palenque archaeological site's entrance is right across the street from the hotel's parking lot (a short shuttle ride or very reasonable walk from the reception). p.s. I am from Mexico, but living abroad. This review is in English just because I am aiming it towards international tourists, since they are less likely to know about this hotel chain."
