Created by Diablo Dam, the lake is located between Ross Lake and Gorge Lake on the Skagit River at an elevation of 1,201 feet (366 m) above sea level. The unique, intense turquoise hue of the lake's water is attributed to the surrounding glaciers that grind rocks into a fine powder that is carried into the lake through creeks. No breakfast which was expected but the 24 hour shop was unreasonably priced. I get it is a tourist trap but at least update things if you’re going to charge for certain amenities. Just 5 min drive to Disneyland. Hotel shuttle is very frequent, running every 30 min, from early in the morning to past midnight. I was attending an Expo at the Convention Center , so took the shuttle to Disneyland and walked 0.9 mile. Very easy. Hotel is nice , somehow dated , but the room was clean and bed was comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only place I stay and travel almost monthly down to Monterey. The rooms are always clean, spacious, the beds are very comfy. Partial bay view is a must. Balcony has two chairs nice to enjoy ur coffee on or listen to some wildlife (sea lions). Basically 4 restaurants attached to the hotel, Carmel bakery n coffee inside the hotel. The location is prime! Walk right and head down Alvarado st you got ur breweries and 10-15 restaurants. Go left and you’re on the Monterey pier , 7 restaurants, a bunch of clothes ans candy shops and my favorite whale watching. I do every time and it’s so close to portola. Checkout was 11am. I get off work at 11am and work 10 minutes from this hotel. The person said to ask the morning of departure. Because I leave for work Saturday morning at 6am, I ask on Friday if someone will be in the office at 5am. They said yes and that that person can help me out. I called the office at 5:15am Saturday but after I pushed the button to the front desk, the line went silent. I tried a few times too. I walked to the office and the receptionist said no, at 5:30am. She said she couldn’t make that decision. It was the morning staff that comes in at 7am that makes that decision. She also said it also depends on what housekeeping says. In the 14+ years I’ve been coming to San Diego for work this is the first time I’ve been denied a late checkout. Even at this hotel. I always ask when checking in too. Some hotels will note it on check-in. Luckily, someone at the event let me use their hotel room to shower. I don’t think I’ll be staying at the Best Western Seven Seas again.
