This was a welcome respite from the over-touristy areas I had previously traveled through in CR. Jose was wonderful and easily accessible. The property was very clean and well-maintained, had a spectacular view, and was a quick drive to the biological reserve. I only had two nights and wish I had more! The owner was very helpful about arranging tours and advice around the area. Unfortunately, the rooms were very damp with the internal walls wet to touch. All clothes became damp, even those left in bags. A dehumidifier was put in the room but it was not large enough to cure the damp. We booked the 6-person suite, which was located in its own cabin. Jose, the owner, was very responsive and easily accessible via Whatsapp. Regarding the property, the mirador (looking point) shelter is a real selling point; while other tourists need to stand alongside the road and fight for parking to watch the sunset, Bella Vista Lodge guests may view it peacefully from the comfort of a covered and exclusive shelter. It is also possible to view the sunset directly from the 6-person cabin porch. Considering the remoteness of Monteverde, we found the cabin clean and practical. The dish and plates were a bit sparse but workable for 4 people. The property is a 5-10 minute drive away from the central mall of the town where there are grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, etc. It is also immediately next to a gas station. It is about 15 minutes to the cloud reserve parking lot.
