"Hotel’s onsen as shown in the website pictures are for members only. Only basic dormitory style rooms were offered with public bath which had water pressure problem that 2 cannot wash at the same time. The bath uses regular, non-hot spring water which only open from 800-2000\. No hot water in the dormitory bathrooms. Hotel is well equipped with gym and game room however for members only. Wish more clarification on the booking sites for this. "

"We stayed in this ryokan for a family trip. The city is unknown to non-Japanese people, but the people at the ryokan were so kind and helpful. Sometimes it was not easy to communicate as their English was not the best, but they tried their best to help. The meals were awesome, and the bath places were great as well. We were totally satisfied and I strongly recommend this place."

![#Nagano is known for #soba so eat soba in Nagano. Simple logic. #ttot #FoodieFinds

From Matsumoto, I had to go back to my friend's place in Gunma with a stop at Nagano. I left the station to find the nearest and highly rated soba shop. Aburaya 油や was on the tabelog list. I ordered the Kamo seiro cold buckweat noodles with duck meat and onion added (literal from the English menu).

It was a lot of soba noodles, as a fat kid, I finished it. The waiter had to come and try to spit out all the English he knows with charades as he saw my clueless face on how to eat it. I knew that I had to dip the noodles on the duck dipping sauce. What I didn't know was to do with the red teapot. I stared at my food for good two minutes and there were two waiters hanging out in the service counter which was on my right side. They probably felt the need to help out this clueless chick.

I am not that educated with soba noodles but I know when the noodles are al dente which they were. The dipping sauce had duck, can't complain because I like duck. It was a nice subtle taste to end the meal with the left over duck sauce with the soup on the teapot.

How to eat soba noodles: You dip noodles on the dipping sauce. Mine was duck, this is probably why I was confused because it wasn't the regular dark dipping sauce. Once finished with noodles, pour teapot soup in the left over sauce then sip sip sip.

"Let’s get real this hotel is not “wonderful” it’s a cheap downmarket motel style room. I’ve travelled around Japan for 5 weeks and this is the first time I would not wear their nightwear as it didn’t seem clean, slippers had been worn before and sanitized (ugh!). No English channels on tv and couldn’t access Netflix or others. No tea or coffee in room although did have kettle. Small room and very old and dated bathroom, didn’t enjoy it at all. Staff were friendly though and short walk from station."

"Hotel condition is terrible. I’ve stayed in old onsen hotels before that are way nicer - old doesn’t mean terrible condition, but this property was clearly neglected. Walls and carpets are destroyed everywhere, mosquitos / fruit flies inhabited the bathroom. I have tattoos so I must use shower, shower floods and did not drain properly, hot and cold interchange constantly, water pressure fails often. Why no private pools? Beds are old coil spring beds with destroyed coils, terrible sleep. Walls are paper thin, everything is heard outside the room. Rooms are excessively hot, hvac systems are not maintained, mold is present in ventilation everywhere. Black Mold is most noticeable in the lobby ventilation. Lobby offers a free snack / night cap before and after dinner, it’s a great service however the space is unimaginably too small for the guests using it and people are spread out into the all over the lobby. Snacks and drinks keep depleting faster than guests can enjoy. Children are everywhere, even during alcohol serving period. Breakfast and dinner periods must be reserved to stop overfilling, yet you still must wait in lines as dining is always over booked. Food served was nothing special, I think fewer items of higher quality would be better. Only 1 microwave for the whole hotel ??? Internet was terrible. Didn’t use onsen, cannot review. My family enjoyed the pools. I don’t recommend staying here unless for skiing. Feels like a budget ski hotel, over priced."
