"Beautiful location"
Grew up in the area but never stayed here. Very beautiful and tranquil, my room had incredible panoramic view of Los Angeles. Room is spacious. Although facility isn't new it was very clean and well maintained.

"Good location"
The hotel is perfectly located to Santa Monica restaurants and shopping as well as the beach. A room on the 1st floor however is not worth the price as the patio is at or slightly below street level and has metal bars which is very unappealing. The beds were also harder than most other 4 star hotels I've stayed in.

"Outstanding location, can walk to Beverly Hills."
We have stayed here several times and always found it to be excellent in all respects. It's unfortunate that the hotel will be closing on March 1. The owner of the property will be tearing down the hotel and building a high rise condo bulding, with, we are told, a small luxury hotel on the first few floors.

"the grande dame of Beverly Hills hotels, but...."
I arrived late on a Friday evening from an 11 hour flight followed by a dinner and was escorted to one of the farthest off bungalows. Technically an upgrade. When I explained that I was an urban girl and the garden setting unnerved me, they apologized that the hotel was full and they'd try to make a change the next day. The bungalow was huge the bathroom really spacious... so I unpacked, the decorations were pretty but dated (mustard yellow is pretty 80's, but i guess it's coming back). The next day was busy so I didn't ask about moving, to my regret. Sunday it was pouring, torrential rain in LA. Unfortunately, I slipped and fell on the path to the hotel (remember. I'm a city kid) and really banged myself up. There was nothing on the ground to prevent slippage on very smooth paths with some slight but steep trajectories. They took good care of me and then moved me into a junior suite in the hotel, which was probably the same size as the bungalow square-foot wise, but which I liked much more...

I enjoyed having a quick beverage at the bar before shopping and had fun while sitting upon the rooftop to soak up the California sun. I was impressed with room service. I was saddened the tea times were limited throughout the week during construction of the restaurant but excited to return when they complete it.

What a wonderful experience. Luxurious property with top notch staff. Our room was a bit cramped but nothing we couldn't live with. Great location, short walk to the pier, dining, and shopping. Highly recommended.

Do not leave any values in your car, since you will be parking valet only. Had to learn it the hard way. Overall, good location (next to Staples Center), friendly personnel, quiet room. If you want a little bit more luxury - Ritz Carlton is next door.
