My family and I stayed here in mid-August and were delighted that the hotel was not only close to the Underground, groceries, shops, and amenities, but it was only a short walk to Regent's Park! Eyaz was beyond helpful and welcoming, and did everything possible to enhance our stay with his kindness, care, and professionalism. The size of the room was bigger than any other hotel that I ever stayed in London. We had 4 luggage and we could open all of them. The building is old you need to know that, son it's not the percet condition. But the price is also low too. Coffe machine at the lobby was so helpful to us to get up in the morning. And the guy on the front desk Azam was amazing. He tried to help us with everything. Gave us good tips and ask us how are we doing everyday. Location was awesome. 15 min walking to Oxford st and bus stop is like 3 to 4 min to all locations. No kettle tea/coffee in the room; they cost what £5? Only downstairs which is useless, and a mess there anyway. Won't stay again. Everything was very clean. Although the building itself is quite old and could really use some renovation, the location was perfect for my plans in London. There's an excellent bakery just a 2-minute walk from the hotel, Regent’s Park is only 10 minutes away, and Baker Street offers a variety of restaurants. The Sherlock Holmes Museum is also just around the corner, on the street behind the hotel. We had to go to the dark, somewhat dinghy lobby for coffee and if you needed the front desk person, you had to ring a bell. We did feel safe in this busy neighborhood with all the tube stations, coffee shops and restaurants. A 45 minute walk got us to Trafalgar Square and a 20 minute walk got us to Regents Park. Emilia's restaurant was FANTASTIC! Great location for that and a nice big room with two doubles but other than that this is a hotel we will not be returning too. Our room was really very tired, broken chair in room, carpets torn and held down with tape on stairs, one of the bed was so saggy it made us laugh, the bathroom was grim, toilet needed descaling, broken floor tiles, wood on edge of bath was damp and rotten, ceiling paint was peeling. We were told we had to wait to go to our room for the check in time. We left and returned an hour earlier to be allowed in to check in early. As you enter the hotel, you immediately notice hotel’s history and how it has been very very over time. Looking beyond the blemishes you can see some of the remnants of history. You can imagine the charm it once had. To check in you enter the room you see in Expedia. It is unmanned and you must ring the bell. We were not allowed to check in early but when a fellow patron from Afghanistan arrived we were then allowed to We were told our room was on the second floor but was actually on the third. No elevator all stairs. When we were expecting to find beds to sleep on in our hotel room and found futons on metal frames. The futons were very low (1.5 feet in height) to the ground , musty, difficult to get out of with arthritis and very firm. The room was lacking. In the “newly renovated room” we were provided with two futons on metal frames, one tall table between the beds, tv with cable, no trash (we had to ask for that), no storage space for jackets (closet), no dresser (cube shelves instead), coffee table (very random), and two luxury dining room chairs with out arms but no table. Adequate lighting. Great heat. The room was clean with the exception of the brown smear on the wall outside the bathroom.
