"Affordable stay in the heart of Rome"
The location of the hotel is in the prime spot of Rome, which is close to a lots tourist attractions (i.e. Termini station, coffee shops, restaurants, etc.). That being said, it was walking distance to Termini, which was the main source of transportation for my trip. 12 Euros for a 48hr Metro pass and 7 Euros for a 24h metro pass (pick your poison). Very convenient hotel location and free continental breakfast. Woo!

"Great Hotel in the City Centre."
My friend and I really enjoyed our stay at the Mencenate Palace (20-22nd Nov 2015). Staff were extremely friendly, more than willing to help with directions and the breakfast buffet was more than satisfactory. Our hairdryer blew up during our stay, and the staff were quick to replace this. The hotel itself is situated next to St Marys Bastillica - of which, you can get amazing views from the rooftop terrace. The hotel is 5 minutes from the Rome Central Terminal and is within walking distance of all major attractions. As such it was very easy to get around and to get to/from the airport. If you don't fancy walking, with the terminal near by you can easily catch the metro around the city. We would recommend the 48 hour transport pass which allows you to jump on and off public transport as much as you like within those 48 hours. The only downside to our stay was how thin the walls were in the hotel as unfortunately this did impact on my quality of sleep both nights due to being disturbed by neighbouring guests!

"Convenient, quiet, clean."
Imwas traveling with a student who has been studying ancient history. Rome, of course, offers many rich historical sites to view and study. As a teacher, I especially appreciated how many significant ruins we saw that were within walking distance to where we stayed. We did notice that the signage (street names) was difficult to find, but any place we visited was easily found using our smart phone GPS.

Overall, we were satisfied with this hotel. Rooms were comfortable and clean and staff were responsive to any needs. We felt the restaurant was pricey and did not eat there.

"Great hotel at a convenient locale."
Stayed in Italy for 12 nights total at 6 different hotels/Air BNBs and I would have to say that this hotel was the most pleasant stay out of all of them. Quite a few middle aged patrons and a good mix of polite Europeans so this was different from staying at an american chain which tailors more to americans. The hotel faces a semi-busy street but it was very quite in the room with the windows being well insulated with the room having undergone an obviously recent renovation. Not sure how the overall hotel is structured, but we were upgraded to a room that was one block down the street in a charming and well-maintained building (room 159). There were also rooms in main building where the "face" of the hotel was located, but didn't stay there so have no idea how those rooms where like. The room we stayed in was superb, and we would highly recommend the one we got (or a comparable) if available. Location was very good, not glitzy, but not ghetto by any means.. and literally 5 minutes walk from the train station platform once you familiarized yourself with the area (Termini). Breakfast buffet exceeded expectations and so did the staff whom all demonstrated excellent attitudes from the first host we met, to the bell boy, to the servers in the free (which we would have been willing to pay for) breakfast buffet. Frankly, we stayed at places 2x the price which didn't measure up in retrospect. Enjoy!

Best Western Plus Hotel Milton Roma

Via E. Filiberto 155, Rome - Map
"Nice and reasonably priced"
Good location withing walking distance of the Colosseum and just across the road from the a Metro Station. Breakfast was included in the room rate. The breakfast included a good selection of very low quality food. However it was possible to find something acceptable to eat, hence avoiding the cost of buying breakfast elsewhere. There was also a great family operated restaurant near the hotel that served great food at a good price.

"Overall great location and comfortable stay."
The hotel is about a five minute walk from the Roma Termini train station which is very convenient. Once inside, you enter a modern and well-decorated lobby and the staff is extremely friendly. All of them spoke English too so that was certainly very accommodating to our party. My room was kept clean and was very comfortable but it was the smallest hotel room I've stayed in my entire life. You walk in the door and there is literally room for a table, the bed (full size I believe!), and a night stand. There is an open door to the bathroom with a nice shower, sink, and toilet. I reiterate that everything was kept clean and nice. They had a buffet breakfast that is included with the room that was decent for me but probably good for most. I'm used to "American" buffets and this was more "Continental" but nonetheless nice to have. Lastly, they make you pay the room taxes in Euros when you check out. You can pay all of your tab on a credit card but taxes must be paid in Euros; I found this to be strange and inconvenient but not a deal breaker. Overall, if you are traveling and need a room just for one, or a couple that doesn't mind a quaint sleeping quarters, it is a great place to stay. It is easy to get to and has plenty of nice restaurants around it. By the way, it is a 20 minute walk from the Coliseum.

Merulana Inn Residence - Rome Hotels

Merulana Inn Residence

"Pleasant, affordable residence inn "
This is closer to a b and b than a full-service hotel. If you are comfortable with not having staff on hand 24/7, and with using a card key to access building, inn, and room, then you will be happy here. (There is an emergency phone number, if your cell phone works in Italy.) Judy, the lady in charge, is both welcoming and helpful and speaks excellent English. She is around for check-in and check-out and usually in the mornings (breakfast time). The room I had (no. 1) was comfortable and elegant, with a little balcony overlooking a courtyard. It was quiet. I had a huge queen or king-size bed (I suspect that a single traveler gets a full-size room because that is what is available). The bathroom had new-looking modern fittings (shower). A good buffet breakfast is served in a little breakfast room. Everything was spotlessly clean. The inn is one floor in a solid old apartment/commercial building, accessed by an elderly but reliable elevator. The inn is within walking distance of the main train station (some of the way on cobbled streets or old sidewalks). It's a half block from Santa Maria Maggiore, and close to the hop-on, hop-off bus stop. The neighborhood is middle/working class, with plenty of shops and restaurants and bars, and seemed perfectly safe, even though a bit seedier next to the station.

"Rome Visit"
The weather was excellent and we had booked 2 guided tours. Breakfast at the Hotel was well stocked and provided us with a good start to the day. You do need to be very careful on the subway relative to pickpockets. My wallet was taken just before a subway exited the station but I exited the train and confronted the thief who returned my wallet. The proximity to the main train station is a good feature and the express train to/from the airport is well worth the cost.

Esquilino hotels are also among the best spots to experience an alternative view of Roman life: a contemporary personality that extends well beyond the most heavily traveled tourist attractions. A large portion of the action happens near the Via Cavour and Termini rail station, but venture beyond these bustling central spaces for a peek at the everyday atmosphere. African eateries dot the landscape just north of Termini, and the Via Merulana is a great place for an evening stroll. For the most unforgettable experience, however, search for Esquilino hotel deals near the Piazza Vittorio. This charming space is anchored by the locally loved Mercato Esquilino, and this sprawling market is among the most amazing places in the city to shop for Middle Eastern, Asian and traditionally Italian treats.

Of course, the culinary treasures don’t stop there. The best Esquilino hotels are situated in the middle of a foodie paradise, and you could easily spend an entire week sampling specialties at the bakeries, cafes, and tucked-away eateries. Stop for an espresso on a relaxed patio, and settle in for a people-watching session. It’s a fantastic way to pass the time in true Roman style.
