The lace is old and quirky and very beautiful. David the host is brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble. He makes the stay very interesting and enjoyable. The food is top quality. Made fresh every morning. The grounds are beautiful. We sat in the sun reading a book. Great greeting from the owner. My room which was called the Tudor Room, had a large ensuite, which had another door into the hallway (which I did not know at time, and during the night someone used the bathroom, when I was in bed). The room had a portable heater which I used at night. Milk for drinks in room is in a little fridge in hallway - would have been nice to be told this. Late in the evening, someone (another guest perhaps) did try and come into my room. The door did not have a key for the lock, but did have a hook, so I could secure the door. The wifi was good and there was no TV in my room. Free parking out in courtyard. Bed was comfortable, but high up, so much so there was a step stool to use to get into bed. From the first minute we walked in we were taken back in time .Funky sloping floors and beamed rooms .Coffee and Tea facilities in room .Our bathroom was not ensuite but down a corridor.Bit spooky at 3am but no Issues.Fresh milk for morning cuppa not long life pods,nice touch. Piano room and library interesting and decorated in beautiful antique furniture that again made me feel I was a “Lady of the manor”. Breakfast perfect and any combination was freely accommodated. What can I say about David ,”a gentleman and a scholar “. The prefect host .
