The COVID-19 outbreak has transformed how the world works in countless ways, including our approach to travel. The following tips will help you better understand these new challenges and prepare you for your vacation in Yucatán:
- Investigate if any travel restrictions apply to your origin and destination before booking anything. Also check if there are any special conditions you’ll have to follow on arrival, such as mandatory quarantining.
- You must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at security checkpoints. Be ready to adjust your mask to verify your identity when asked by a TSA employee.
- Avoid handing your boarding pass directly to a TSA employee. Instead, position the pass on the reader and then hold it up so the agent can inspect it.
- One liquid hand sanitizer container is now permitted in your carry-on luggage. It must be no bigger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you’ll need to remove it from your bag for X-ray screening.
- Place any personal items (phone, wallet and keys) in your carry-on instead of a bin to minimize handling during the screening process.
- Transport your food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on means it’s less likely a TSA officer will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.
