Dec 22, 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy We had previously stayed here when it was 'Potomac View,' and while we loved it then, the transformation into 'The Pearl' is amazing. The owners have managed to keep the historic charm while providing a fully updated and comfortable experience.The location remains unbeatable and the wraparound porch with the waterfront view over the Potomac is still the best in Colonial Beach. The interior updates are impressive. The removal of the wall between the kitchen and living room opens up the whole space. We especially appreciated the new central HVAC (no more window units!) and the fast Wi-Fi.The kitchen is stocked with high-end cookware (Cuisinart/Chicago Cutlery) and appliances like the induction range and wine fridge that made cooking easy for our large group. Being able to seat all 10 of us at the new dining table with the crystal chandelier felt very special.The kids also had a great stay. The 'kids nook' was a thoughtful touch and we loved using the new bikes to explore and the cornhole boards in the yard.It is rare to find a 150-year-old home that feels this fresh, warm and comfortable.
