Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you prepare well enough. We've compiled a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Westende escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a comfortable experience if you pack the right things. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare change of clothes and a good novel. Next, leave space in your bag for your laptop, a charger, your medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to take your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and strong acids, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfy clothing and choose shoes that are enclosed, flat and easy to remove.
- Caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot condition that can affect passengers during long-distance flights. Lower your risks by drinking water, keeping your feet and legs moving and wearing compression socks to help improve your circulation.
