"great location "
Very nice hotel EXCEPT --- our son called to have a birthday surprise breakfast delivered to our room. Instead of the eggs, toast, hash browns, bacon, coffee, juice, and pancakes that he arranged, we received one muffin, one cup of O.J., and a pot of coffee with 2 cups. I thought that it was because we joined the rewards program until my son called to see if we received a surprise and we told him what actually happened . He called the hotel. The person in charge of room service told him that he "couldn't remember what he had ordered so did the best he could." NOT WHAT YOU'D EXPECT FROM A 4-5 STAR HOTEL! Really put a damper on my birthday.

"Great hospitality! "
Our stay had truly personalized service. The staff really went the extra mile with the details and service. The cocktail hour was very nice touch.I felt like I was staying with friends rather than strangers I had just met. Very different feel than a larger'mainstream" hotel. Spacious nice rooms for a hotel located in the heart of a major city...and great location!

"Good location, tiny rooms"
The hotel is beautiful and maintains the charm of the original hotel. The rooms also maintain their original tiny size so it was cramped in the room. There was one chair with a side table and no dresser or drawers for clothes. I don't mind living out of my suitcase but it is nice to have some space to put a few things besides the ground around your suitcase. On the plus side, the beds were extremely comfortable. The safe was very helpful and friendly. Services brought all items requested quickly to the room including sunglasses from the valet. The valet has hidden fees so it ends up being $60 per night instead of the advertised $48. Also your car has to be out by 2pm on checkout day to avoid a late charge so if you are staying in the city until late in the day, be prepared to move your car.

"Updated hotel, excellent staff, easy check-in/out"
Nice place. Small lobby. Didn't see/try any amenities. Had some trouble with the thermostat, but it was resolved quickly. Did not have bath towels in room upon arrival, but front desk sent some up quickly. Staff was great.

"Great hotel close to everything. "
Great little hotel for Boston. If you don't want all the frills of fancier hotels, this is the place for you. Great bar and area to hang out too for day time meetings or nighttime cocktails.

"A Return Stay"
I returned to the Onyx for a long weekend in Boston visiting friends and doing some 'cultural' activities. I had stayed there before and was pleased with my previous experience. Fortunately, I had a pleasing stay this time as well. I will keep the Onyx on my list of Boston favorites.

"Our new SPOT!! "
We came to the inn for a little getaway parents of five.. we need to do that now and again!! So we picked the colonial inn not to far but just far enough, we checked in the woman was sweet, informative, took the time to show us around and escorted us to our room, We went to the pub first for a snack before dinner, it was cozy, wonderful apps at the bar and a couple great signature cocktails Lawrence was our guy!! He was great to us, it happened to be the end of his shift but we wanted for nothing, the room was exactly what we needed dinner was lovely our server was spunky, busy but attentive, SUNDAY BRUNCH! Was the icing on the cake, prime rib, lobster bisque omelette station and again staff so extremely on point I wish I could remember their names!! The food was delicious the presentation was amazing!! This is our spot we will return and we look forward to the next time I do hope you enjoy!!

Make your own mark on Boston’s history by staying in a hotel with a colourful past.

You can’t walk a block in Boston without tripping over something historically significant. Make the most of this and head over to the Freedom Trail, where you’ll wind through over 3 km of downtown Boston and see prominent items like the USS Constitution (one of the six original frigates of the United States Navy) and the Paul Revere House (where he was living before making his dramatic ride). Following that, you can head to the waterfront to explore the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum, and you can actually experience the Boston Tea Party via actors, use of holograms, and yes, several replicas of the merchant vessels that transported the tea.

After an exciting day of taking in the local history, stop by your hotel to relax and catch your breath. A number of hotels in the Boston area are historical buildings themselves; some of them constructed over a century ago. When you stay at a historic hotel in Boston, you’ll enjoy all the modern amenities tucked into a classic shell. Take your meals in a Victorian-styled restaurant, or explore the unique bedrooms at an older bed and breakfast.

When you book with Expedia.ca, you’ll have access to the best hotels in Boston. It doesn’t matter whether you want to stay in a historic building or a swanky new locale; we’ll unearth the top rooms and suites at rates that won’t make your pocketbook want to jump overboard. Now that’s what we call historic savings.
