Good news:
*Property owner easy to reach, and courteous
*Property was mostly clean.
Bad news:
*There is no way in life this place accommodates 4. It would work for 2, who sleep in the same bed. The futon-ish thing in the living area is short, hard, narrow, and could only fit two 5-yr-olds, or 2 midgets. But still, it is incredibly uncomfortable.
*When standing next to the stove, one smells gas. So we didn't use the stove.
*The bedspread was not clean.
*Weirdly, there are no ice trays in the freezer.
*There is no deck or porch, as advertised in the listing.
*Parking is not allowed on the property and is forbidden on the street, but is not, as the listing states, "across the street". It is down the block, around a corner and halfway down another block, and is a cavernous subterranean lot that costs $15 a night.
In short, it is OK to monetize your mom's basement, which is apparently what the owner of this property is doing. But it is not OK to misrepresent what it is, so the visitor leaves feeling ripped off, given that, after cleaning fees, taxes and various other charges, this place really costs 40% more than the price listed.
