"We loved our stay! From the staff to the decor, we were impressed with Hotel Thaxter. It is so charming and a wonderful alternative to a more commercial hotel. It felt like we were staying in someone’s home, without paying the fees of a vacation rental. "

"We had a great experience at your hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, very clean facility even though a bit outdated. Very comfortable bed. We won’t hesitate to go back again when in this area."
"The SailMaker House is a cozy hotel that is very representative of the local buildings. It is on a quiet side street but a 3 minute walk to the downtown shopping area. There are lots of excellent food options, very cute boutiques and 2nd hand stores, lots of music venues and bars. The nearby park (5 min walk) offers summer concerts outdoors - a very chill vibe.
Hotel host was very nice. There is a cute shared living room where you can read books or chill. There is coffee and snacks in the entrance as well as water and ice.
all in all, great location and would totally recommend it!!"
"The hotel was very close to shopping and dining. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was great to have the free coffee and breakfast each morning too. I would definitely stay here again. "
"Nice hotel in downtown Portsmouth NH. Friendly staff. Easy access to Market Street, the tourist area for food and shopping. Not too far from harbor if interested. Offers breakfast for 15.50ea which is an upscale continental breakfast only. OK but nothing fancy."
"Great place to stay. Beautiful xeriscaping in front and sides with a covered porch to rock and read under. The room was small (#6) but it had everything we needed. The towels and shampoo/conditioner/shower gel were lovely; we had plenty of towels. I loved the keyless/cardless door locks to the home and room. In the main living room there were myriad K cup coffee’s including soy milk, half & half, and oat milk in the fridge. A different fridge was stocked with little bags of ice to use in the ice bucket available to take to the room. If you BYOB you can label and put in the fridge as well. There was a freezer to re-freeze ice packs that we brought in our cooler. They had instant oatmeal, honey, and sweeteners available. The inn is close to the bridges that you can walk across and get some delish BBQ at Ore Nelle’s. Sit outside and watch the sunset over the water. Lots of restaurants in the town of Kittery, a Juicery, breakfast places and a Laundrette. It was a nice little place to stay and it was very clean. The staff were super responsive and had lots of great tips on dining places in sights to see!"
