I'm sorry to hear about the inconvenience you have had with your room.All our beds are zip and link beds at the Mercure Sheffield parkway hotel in the case that we need to have more twin rooms. However if you book our queen beds these are 1 mattress and do not zip open.Constructive feedback can help the hotel to improve its services for future guests so we will take this on board

Nice stay!
Very easy to find the hotel, just off the M1. Quiet location and a few amenities nearby, although you do need a car to get to them. Hotel clean and breakfast as expected. Only reason I gave 4-stars for service was that it was busy when we were there and had to wait a while to be served at reception and for breakfast to be replenished when everything ran out. Rooms clean and very comfy. Would definitely thin of using this one again if ever back in Sheffield.

Overall, it seems like you had a positive experience at the hotel, with the convenience of its location just off the M1, cleanliness, comfortable rooms, and expected breakfast. However, you mentioned a few points that affected your rating of the service, such as having to wait at reception and for breakfast to be replenished due to busyness during your stay. Despite these minor inconveniences, you would consider staying at this hotel again if you were back in Sheffield.

Price/quality mismatch
Not sure this hotel warrants the price tag. Service was friendly enough but there was clearly not enough staff on. This resulted in an unacceptably long wait for the meal (and another lady drenched in a full pint of beer as the waiter was too stressed and too rushed). The area around is pretty grim but we knew where we were staying (again though, questions about the price tag). The kettle didn’t work and the A/C unit is too loud.

The wardrobe in our room looked like it was going to fall over at any moment. Breakfast was cold, slow and limited. Most of the safe were really lovely.

The unstable wardrobe is a safety concern and should be addressed promptly by hotel maintenance to prevent any accidents or inconvenience to guests.Cold, slow, and limited breakfast service is disappointing and doesn't meet the standards expected by guests, especially when paying for accommodation that includes breakfast.Despite these issues, it's positive to hear that most of the staff were lovely. Friendly and attentive staff can help mitigate some of the challenges guests may face during their stay.

Receptionist was really lovely and helpful throughout - like advising on how to get a taxi back from the arena without getting stuck in traffic! Quite a lot of stains in room, floor, curtains etc. The breakfast was very disorganised. It was busy but that should have been predictable. Only two staff on, receptionist was multitasking and friendly, but the person in charge of the breakfast seemed to try to look busy rather than making sure there were cleared tables, glasses for the drinks station, people arriving. She was really abrupt. Everyone is understanding for overrun staff if it’s rammed if you smile/friendly but she just looked moody and was being short with people.

However, it's unfortunate that there were some issues with cleanliness in the room and disorganization during breakfast.Regarding breakfast, additional training for staff and implementing better systems for managing busy periods, to improve overall guest satisfaction. Feedback like yours can be valuable for hotels to identify areas for improvement and enhance the guest experience in the future.

Stayed after visiting friends and family as the hotel is perfectly situated close to the motorway (bit not noisy). Check in easy and room was a good size and clean. Breakfast a good variety and plenty on offer. All in all a great stay

The servicing of room was poor. Breakfast was poor. The cooked breakfast was dry and cold, for a cost of £12 was very poor value. The fresh fruit salad was poor as the orange slices still had the peel on. We have stayed in other Mercure hotels and had better breakfast. On the positive side all the staff we dealt with were polite, friendly and helpful.

Hotel was ok, had a room on the second floor at the back. I didn’t get much sleep as there is a shipping container company at the back of the hotel loading trains all night bang shang -a-lang.

Nice hotel
Hotel was quiet, not many guests staying that night so perfect that point of view. If other guests are noisy then that can ruin a nights sleep. Room was spacious and clean and comfortable but the air con was not working which was hugely disappointing given the current heatwave. I turned the dial down to 5 degrees as advised but made no difference. We were offered another room earlier in the evening but felt too late to change once we realised the air con definitely not working. Breakfast was good and staff friendly

Good hotel - avoid the railway side rooms
The hotel was good, very clean and comfortable. Excellent but our stay was spoiled because our room backed onto the railway freight container loading track. Loading and unloading until after 11 pm and starting again at around 05 am with bright working lights and noisy container lifting equipment.
