Great stay, awesome hotel restaurant
The hotel is clean, staff is friendly, and breakfast was very good. However the best part is the restaurant in the hotel. It serves delicious traditional Sami food in a very special setting. Highly recommended!

Don’t miss the restaurant!
Nice hotel. The staff was super-friendly and there is a great Sámi-style restaurant with excellent food. It resembles a turf-hut where you can sit around a fire. They also have a nice big sauna and a comfortable lobby to sit in.

Great visit only a few improvements needed
I came to Karasjok to learn about the Sampi. Mission accomplished. There was right next door the Sami Camp. And in easy walking distance the Sami museum. The hotel was great for cleanliness and condition. The below reasons is the reason I did not give perfect. 1. No elevator 2. Only one place to eat at in the immediate area. In walking distance was one diner however it closes early. 3. Only 3 ways to get from the airport. Taxi, bus, and rental car. The bus does not run often. It would be great if all the hotels united and ran a shuttle bus to pick up visitors. And the airport does not even have one eating place.

This hotel is unlike other Scandic Hotels. They have a budget/economy cabin 300 meters from the main hotel. Beware if your room happens to be out there with shared bathroom. A Scandic Hotel—really? You can avoid this if they aren’t sold out and pay an upgrade fee. I’m writing to the Scandic corporate office about this bait and switch. I won’t return.

The room was clean. The beds very comfortable. We appreciated the black out curtains. It made the room very dark at night when the sun did not go down. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We especially appreciated Sigurd's attitude of hospitality and his answering our many questions.

We were informed that the water would be off over night until 7am the next morning. By 8.30am we were still waiting for water and had to leave as we had a long journey. We weren’t able to have showers or wash and it wasn’t very pleasant not being able to flush the toilet over night into the morning. I understand this is out of the hotels hands, however, if they had known about this in advance and it seems they did as it was planned works then we should have been contacted. We are doing a road trip and access to water for cleaning is exactly why we booked hotels! I would expect a partial refund on our booking

If you're in the area, this is a lovely place
We arrived by bus from Alta in late afternoon for a one night stay. Unfortunately the Sami Village was already closed and didn't reopen before we left in the morning. The hotel is very nice and the staff was outstanding. They were friendly, helpful and generous with their time. One front desk person even stayed around after her shift and took us out to feed their reindeer (there are 4 in an enclosed field just outside the hotel). It was very fun. The room was small and pretty basic but the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was fine with a great shower. We had dinner there, reindeer stew, which was delicious. Again, the staff was great. Their breakfast buffet was excellent as is true at all the Scandic hotels we've stayed at this trip.

Good place to stay in the area
Nice place to view northern lights. A transition point for travel from Norway to Finland. Nice staff. Large varieties of choice for breakfast. Large gym room.

staff was so friendly
Receptionist was o amazing, she switched off outside lights so we could see aurora from foyer without having to go out in cold. Restaurant converted burger to vegetarian with greta flair. Full marks. Love to go back again and stay longer. Great bus stop right in car park of hotel with connection to Alta/ Honnisvage and whole of Finaland lapland.

Clean hotel
The hotel is very clean. The only down side is that The temperature was -23 celcius during our stay, however the windows cannot be closed firmly and the heater is not functioning well. We had to wear a lot of clothes in our room.

I booked a room with shared bathroom. I arrived at 7.15pm. The receptionist told me my room was in the guest house 200m down a dark tree lined track with no lighting. I was given no torch or clear directions to find the room in a group of unlit buildings. I have night blindness. When I expressed my safety concerns, pressure was applied to upgrade. I paid $285 AUD for two nights - it was over my budget. My request to not lift my case up stairs was ignored. I insisted and the receptionist did take it to my room. My room was not near any other hotel building or safety. It smelt strongly of mice. The heater didn't work the first very cold night. In the morning, I asked the receptionist about using the self-help washing facilities. She checked with the housekeeper and I was given permission to use the washer and dryer. A man came and unpleasantly demanded to know if I had asked reception. He didn't introduce himself. He was the manager. I expressed my dissatisfaction with my accommodation. He denied there was a mice smell but not that there was a smell. I tried to explain I was stressed by the situation. The manager angrily stormed off. After the manager left, he sent the receptionist to say I couldn't stay in the laundry and she had to lock the door. I pointed to the washer. It had one minute to finish. I still needed to use the drier. I refused to leave the laundry. They repeatedly asked me to upgrade my room at a further cost of $76. I refused to spend more money there.

There is no lift at this hotel which is very inconvenient when one travels With lots of luggage! Dark rooms in the basement.

Disappointing Scandic Karasjok
we booked economy room but it is guesthouse which is old and far from main building and look old. Washroom is out of order and luckyly there is another room then we canuse otherwise have to go to downstair . In summary I don't like the room.

Overall good but staff training could be improved.
This is a very nice Sami themed hotel. Room was good as was breakfast which included local delicacies. The restaurant is also a good experience but not sure I would want to eat there every night (we only stayed 1 night) One downside was that although our room card said that we would get 20% discount at the weekend on food etc as a Scandic member we did not get it because we did not show our card when we went into the restaurant and nobody had told us we had to and the room card did not mention it. We were told when checking out that we should have been asked for our scandic card but we were not and they were not willing to rectify the error when checking out.

Convenient location
We caught the bus to Karasjok and it was a pleasant surprise that the busses drop off and pick up from this hotel. Room was clean, spacious with a comfortable bed. Wifi worked well and breakfast included all the usual options.

Cosy and convenient.
This hotel beside the Karasjoc Sampi park and close to the Sami partliament, it is a 5 min walk to the centre of Karasjoc and buses call at the hotel - what could be more convenient? It has a Sami theme, decked out in Sami colours and designs and has an outside restaurant in summer. Sumptuous breakfast and good local produce in the restaurant at night. Cosy with an open fire in the lounge.
