I was very unhappy with my room. I paid for 'ocean view'. There is no such thing - we were in the line of rooms closest to the ocean, but you couldn't actually see it. What we saw was a wall of trees and bushes. Not at all what I expected. That's really false advertising.

Clean, well laid out and attractive site. Few problems with insects. Beautiful shrubbery. Great that no children but still uncomfortably loud at times during the day due to poor quality and overused amplifier and sound system. Peace and quiet, it seemed, was not the priority. Evening entertainments were fine. Tennis courts were cracking up but adequate. Rooms are spacious with balcony and views but fittings are cheap and worn - some don't function. Food and drink, whilst plentiful, are at best mediocre. Most staff, not all, were cheerful and helpful. There is a general need to incentivise by providing a continuous stream of tips throughout to room cleaning staff, bar staff, waiters, attendants....

Grounds were well kept and tidy. Beach was immaculate. Definitely in need of an upgrade. Food and liquor selection was minimal and not all areas of the hotel open.

I thought for the price, this was a great value, veranda was lovely, food and bar staff very good and friendly, food offerings were surprisingly good and creative. Beach and water were amazing. Inroom towels and bedding were a bit sad and we both got bitten ferociously by bedbugs. Front desk staff were rude and not very helpful

Food is just the worst I have ever tried! Mosquitos will kill you l, the staff is not really friendly. Beach is amazing, rooms are clean and they had closed all the restaurants only the buffet works and it was really bad quality food. I’ll definitely not stay again there. The place is nice btw. But is not the best you will find in Varadero

Upon arrival the hotel did not have our reservation. They also did not have a room or any record of us. After about 45 minutes they found us a room and charged me a large deposit that was to be refunded once and ‘if’ Thebes issue was solved. They didn’t admit hat this situation happens often to them, and thus I did not feel it was good customer service to not give the customer the benefit of the doubt and put the burden of proof upon us. The issue was resolved the next day and I was refunded without an apology. It’s it was just a bit crap to pay so much and come so far for that softball of experience.

Lovely staff & beach but rooms need some TLC
Overall I really enjoyed our 4 days at Be Live Los Cactus, but I went in with fairly low expectations. I'm glad to say it exceeded almost all of them, though there is definitely room for improvement. From reviews online I'd been led to believe the food was inedible. This was far from the case. The food was varied and plentiful at the buffet restaurant, and while not gourmet dining, it was tasty enough. Remember that this is Cuba, where a decades-long embargo means they find it difficult to bring in many fresh ingredients. Despite this, the food was fine. The drinks were even better. The staff are mostly excellent - friendly and helpful. The pool was lovely with plenty of loungers, likewise the beach was gorgeous and not too over-crowded. They have kayaks and pedalos for free use. There didn't seem to be a queue for them at any point. They have 4 tennis courts, but just one set of rackets, however we did manage to grab them once for a game! The WiFi was fine (1 CUC for 1 hour and only available in common areas). The rooms are, unfortunately, very tired and in need of TLC. They also weren't particularly clean, with some cobwebs in corners etc. The bed sheets etc were always clean, but the little details of the room weren't. While we were there, they were re-painting outside, but this is cosmetic and really the rooms need renovating. Despite this, I'd stay again, and would wager that Los Cactus compares well v other hotels in the area.

My room was fine with a beautiful view. The hotel itself shows signs of mild neglect and a lick of paint and some attention to thinks like rusty shower heads would make a major difference. On the other hand, this hotel represents excellent value for money and is located on one of Cuba's most spectacular beaches. All in all it was a lovely week.

Lovely staff, ok food and drink and the most important- access to the beautiful beach and sea. More activities during the evening needed as it was dark by 6 pm and not much was going on then. All the activities were happening during the day when most of the people were on the beach.

Beautiful beach with chairs and umbrellas. Staff is great. Very friendly, personable, most speak English. They were extremely helpful with info at front desk. I can not give this a higher grade because of the birds. Open air buffet allows birds to fly in and not just steal food but walk all over food. Staff seems tired of chasing them and management doesn't do anything about it.

The resort is very nice, right on the beach that is beautiful. Plenty of chairs on the beach and amazing water. However, the rooms can be cleaner and updated. The buffet food was horrible, not to much variety. The staff that works at the buffet needs to be trained better to take care of the buffet area. The waiting staff was very friendly and tried their best to help everyone but were under staffed (we felt bad for them). The food in Restaurant 'Mojito' and 'International' was a little better and the atmosphere was nice. The reception staff was very helpful at check-in and check-out. All in all we had a nice time at the hotel but as a friendly suggestion to the hotelmanagement we would say: get help to train your buffet-staff and cooks to improve themselfs. Not worth 3 stars (yet).. mainly because the quality of the food.

polecam przepiękna plaża.
Bardzo przyjemny hotel z przepiękną plażą, mieliśmy pokój z widokiem na morze, co prawda na początku ten widok był przez palmy i musiałabym się wychylić żeby coś zobaczyć, ale po telefonie do recepcji następnego dnia nasz pokój został zmieniony i mogliśmy się cieszyć widokiem. Kuba jest ciężka do zwiedzania samemu i na taki wypad z siedzeniem w hotelu ten obiekt jest idealny. Bardzo duży teren ośrodka, smaczne jedzenie i zróżnicowane (po tygodniu już wszystko się powtarzało ale i tak było ok). Z minusów to czasami brakowało wina, drinki okropne, ale nie gorsze niż zwykle na all inclusive, jak było wino - czy to białe czy musujące - to było smaczne.

El hotel no es malo, pero debe mejorar mucho la higiene en el comedor. Hay al menos una docena de gatos que merodean el comedor. Además se posan pájaros en el buffet y se comen la comida. Esto es habitual, no es algo esporádico.

Gutes Strandhotel nach kubanischem Standard.
Natürlich ist das Hotel schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber es entspricht gutem kubanischen Standard. Vor allemn die vielen Liegen am Strand, der sowohl Sonnen- als auch Schattenplätze bietet, haben uns gut gefallen.
