Moscow, Russian's capital, is about 220 miles (354 kilometers) to the north of Yelets.
Visiting just one town or city, no matter how popular, will only ever provide you with a glimpse into the wider textures and qualities of a region. So allow time to explore Lipetsk Oblast's other cities, attractions and landscapes. Krasnoye and Troyekurovo are two more places worth seeing while you're in Lipetsk Oblast.
Organize some transport and head to Lipetsk, a regional center, located approximately 45 miles (72 kilometers) away from Yelets. The city has a wide range of tourist attractions, for example Godoskoy Beach, Bykhanov Garden and Puppet Theatre. Metallurg Stadium and Heroes of Aviation Monument are just a handful of the other interesting attractions in Lipetsk.
Before you leave on your adventures do what the savvy travelers do and take the time to learn a range of key lines in Russian. A good example of such a phrase is "Xotite potancevat?" (Would you like to dance with me?). "Where are you from?" is also useful, so practice pronouncing "Otkuda ty?"
You'll be sad to bid "Poka!" (farewell) to this appealing part of the world.
