Overall our experience was good. It is a beautiful house, I’m guessing complete luxury in the 1960’s when it was built. We live in a 100 year old house, so can appreciate architecture for what it is. Our kids loved the amazing pool and hot tub.
Overall the only real mild disappointment was the cleanliness. The area is lovely and the kids had a blast. I personally would pay an extra $50-100 in the cleaning fee to get it a bit cleaner between stays.
Cleanliness issues: There was dried food on the dining room floor that was never mopped up. The corners of all the showers were discolored/not cleaned with any sort of scrubbing. The master bath had quite a bit of mildew in the corners of the shower, dead flies and hair on the floor (it was dirty enough we chose not to use it) and the floor had cracked a lot, but had been grouted over.
Lamps in the house had 1/8”-1/4” dust/dead flies sitting on them and all bathroom fans had about 1/4”-1/2” dust to the extent that I was worried what might start flying around when I turned it on.
They re-did the floors at some point with some sort of vinyl squares, but they are
separating and lifting, especially in the dining room, making it harder to clean the area.
The lower bedroom sheets smelled of body odor, so we suspect that they were missed at some point in the cleaning process. One bunk bed had no mattress pad. Master comforter smelled fine, but had some stains on it.
Many of the towels provided were stained or falling apart around the edges.
Lastly the swimming pool structure had algae along the walls near the where it meets the floor.
Of note:
The house does not have internal stairs, only an older elevator, that is a bit tricky so kids can not use alone. The elevator stopped working and the owner was very responsive and fixed it the same day.
The fourth bedroom (not shown in pictures, lower floor of the house) has two sets of bunk beds and a twin. Upper bunks do not have guard rails on them.
Kitchen: no vent for the stove. So don’t plan on frying food. There is very basic kitchen equipment, but not a ton. Bring your own Saran Wrap, stoarage containers, etc. Also, they only give you 5 tabs of detergent for the laundry and dishwasher, so if you’re staying for a whole week, then bring your own extras.
Internet: faster in the AM but in the PM was about 2 Mbps, so could not stream anything in the afternoon or evening.
