We chose Airport Hotel Budapest because of its proximity to Budapest Airport and the fact they had shuttle service. Problem was when we contacted them via email (as our flight was leaving Vienna enroute to Budapest) to arrange for a pickup, our email was not answered and remained unanswered upon arrival in Budapest. We had to arrange and pay for a taxi ride from the airport to the hotel. When we enquired about the lack of a response to our email the very nice woman at the front desk said they had been having problems with their email all day and were not able to receive any messages. In fairness, she offered us a drink voucher in the bar, but at 11pm we would have preferred that all or part of the taxi ride be refunded.
The difficulties continued with the room. As soon as we opened the door there was an unpleasant smell. The drain in the bathroom sink was plugged and required about 5 minutes to slowly drain in order to run the water again. In addition, there was a strong musty/moldy odor coming from the shower. Because we were so tired we just went to bed.
When we checked out in the morning, we raised both of these issues with the front desk person and their response was "we know". That was it. No apology or offer to reduce the rate as compensation for the inconvenience.
We almost never write an unfavorable review, but this stay was not a good experience. Needless to say, we would not choose this hotel again in the future.
