Passing through

Posted 1-Dec-2014
Pros: It was relatively quiet... second floor considered.
Location: For me... it is just off the freeway. Van Horn was not a destination, just a way point.
After a long day driving from Phoenix, the hotel was a welcome site. Check-in was fast and the room was what we reserved. It was clean and everything worked. The free breakfast was what you would expect... scrambled eggs, thin, soft bacon etc. I didn't expect more. Check-out was easy and we were on our way by quarter to 7 the next morning.

Great stop between San Antonio and Tucson. Clean hotel, very convenient. Better to stop in Van Horn than Ft. Stockton.

not the best Hampton Inn

Posted 9-Nov-2014
We like to stay in Van Horn. There is a nice restaurant in The El Capitan hotel, but the rooms are just so-so. We have tried th Hampton Inn 3-4 times and are not fans. The staff and location leave something to be desired.

We had a very positive experience from the time we arrived to the time we left. The hotel was super clean starting from the main entrance to the room.

Nice Hotel in the 'middle of nowhere'

Posted 8-Oct-2014
Location: Go see Mcdonal Observatory - fascinating tour of a LARGE electron telescope and a LARGE refelctive telescope.
Texas is a long drive and we wanted to spend some nights in the 'darkest' skies in the US so we could see the night sky. This hotel was a nice spot to get to Marfa, Fort Davis, and the McDonald Observatory. Hotel was clean, good breakfast, nice staff. Overall a good experience.

Very clean and comfortable hotel

Posted 6-Oct-2014
Pros: Very comfortable for the price. And it was great that they provided bagged breakfasts for those who were heading out on the road quickly!
Location: This is a stop for many along Highway 10 and it was a great and comfortable place!
Loved the doggie biscuits with a doggie bag wrapped around it...very clever and I appreciate the welcome for my pet! The room was really comfortable and clean. Seems this is a newer hotel.

Comfortable Stay

Posted 17-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
My fiancé stayed her over night on our way to San Antonio, TX. He enjoyed the gym. I enjoyed the comfortable bed and the hotel decor. The breakfast the next day was great. Also enjoyed coffee/tea bar and "to-go" back the hotel offered on our travels. Would definitely stay here again.

ROAD TRIP 2014

Posted 3-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
I really like Hampton Inn......very dependable & great breakfast, so would usually pay a little more to stay at them UNTIL I realized after staying 3 or so times on this trip that the usual is for the pool is not open until 10 am - gee I really wanted to exercise in the pool (knee problems so this is what the doctor suggest) but if you are traveling that day 10AM is way too late. So from now on I will NOT stay at Hampton Inn unless I can verify that the pool is open in the morning (which seems to be against their pattern)
