Super tired so we were relieved to just have a place to rest for the night. But the counter girl might have been stoned or just not too keen on service. And we were dead tired and the elevator was broken.

Traveling with Pets

Posted 7-Aug-2014
Pros: I was worried about booking a room online since we had the cats with us. There were no issues at check-in and the whole process was very easy.
Location: There is not much to do in this town. Very few restaurants that are not fast food.
While moving our family half way across the country, we stayed the night at this location. We were traveling with two cats who were not used to being away from home. The room was very clean and the hotel in general was very well kept.

Nice place to rest.

Posted 1-Aug-2014
Pros: Location - right off the highway. Cleanliness - both grounds and rooms
Cons: Breakfast could use some work.
Location: Went to McDonald's and Wendy's for dinner. Other diners in the area, but didn't visit.
Stayed overnight, passing through to California. Room was in excellent condition. Staff was courteous and professional. Wish we could've enjoyed the pool. But had to hit the road. The breakfast was ok. Nothing to stop the presses about. Loved the 'Texas-shape' waffle maker!!! Check-in was easy and check-out was even better.

The Thermostat from Hell

Posted 26-Jul-2014
Pros: Convenient location, everything was very clean, the room was well-appointed. The staff was friendly and competent. They provided us with coffee at 5:3
Cons: I would have said more above, but the form would not accept any more characters. The room was quite small, and the bed was supposed to be a queen, but
Location: It did it again. the bed seemed to be a full. This was just a stop on a trip for my wife and I, so I didn't look for any points of interest.
This thermostat works like none I have ever used. Usually, if you move the setting up a degree or two, it just turns off the AC until the ambient temperature reaches the setting, then turns the AC on again. This one, I finally figured out at 3am, when the setting is move higher by two degrees turns the heat on. And it stays on, at least until it has awakened me because I was too hot. No way I could get more than three hours of sleep under those conditions.

We were very pleased with our room and the cleanliness. All the necessities were there and the breakfast was exceptional. We made return reservations for our return trip from Dallas to Tucson the following week. We make this trip a couple of times a year and always stay in Van Horn. This hotel is our favorite. A little more expensive than some but for me, worth it!

Nice hotel

Posted 11-May-2014
The room was very nice. The carpets, furniture, beds and bathroom were clean. The shower looked a little old and dingy compared to the rest of the room. Overall it was a good stay. Breakfast in the morning was more than I expected!

Cons: Breakfast meat and eggs would be better from fresh not frozen over processed foods.
We had a wonderful experience from the moment we called to get directions until we checked out.

Great hotel in small west Texas town

Posted 5-May-2014
Location: Beautiful views of mountains.
We come to Van Horn annually and this is new favorite hotel. Ample sized rooms, hot breakfast, great staff, and everything you come to expect from a big city hotel. A bit pricey, but the best place between El Paso & Odessa!!

Great stay

We stayed at this hotel as a halfway stopping point from phoenix to Galveston. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was just the right size. Breakfast was good with a nice variety including western omelettes. I have one small complaint. The walls of the room are thin and we could hear the person in the next room snoring away. We are used to very quiet surroundings. It turned out the snoring stopped and we got a good nights sleep. With the hotel only half full, at best, I wish they would assign every other room to guests. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
