Nicest hotel in area

Posted 16-Mar-2014
Pros: Everything was first class.
Just traveling through the area. Hotel provided a comfortable rest for the night. Continental breakfast was great - very clean and well stocked. Hotel also provided "to-go" bags for those in a rush.

Great place to stop for an overnight sleep while driving cross-country or across Texas with your dog! The room, lobby, and overall facilities of this hotel are very clean and comfortable! Highly recommended.

Pros: This hotel was well maintained and updated. I appreciate the large rooms and high ceilings.
My stay was last minute and over night. The room was very clean and well appointed. I enjoyed the comfortable bed and quiet location.

Holiday Travels

The hotel was clean, comfortable, convenient. and pet friendly even providing free doggie treats. The breakfast was exceptional for a free breakfast at a hotel. My only complaint would be the "heated" indoor pool was extremely cold. This hotel was an oasis in the middle of nowhere.

Very Comfortable Stay

Very clean, well maintained room. I did not see the extra $25 charge for the dog on the web page.

Still wonderful!

Posted 5-Jan-2014
Pros: The massive amounts of actual grass to walk my dogs!
Cons: Nothing....I have zero complaints about Hampton Inn Van Horn.
Location: Chuy's is a really good restaurant & an experience in itself. This is not part of the Chuy's chain that's in larger cities. Very unique & tasty!
This is my 3rd or 4th review about this hotel so obviously we like Hampton Inn Van Horn! We travel from the Dallas area to the Phoenix area and back 1 - 3 times a year and this is our hotel of choice for the half way mark. WONDERFUL areas to walk my dogs, EXTREMELY friendly and helpful staff, GREAT breakfast & area to enjoy it. Limited things to "do" in that area but we are only there for the one night and look forward very much to our dinner at Chuy's (home of the John Madden Hall of Fame...LOL) where the Mexican food is really good & if we are feeling lazy after the days drive they deliver to the hotel.

Staff annoyed by questions

Posted 3-Jan-2014
Pros: comfortable beds and bathrooms. The hotel is pet friendly, ear plugs provided, but they were unnecessary, and we heard no barking
Cons: hotter breakfast, more attentive to keeping fresh coffee available during breakfast, more friendly staff
The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was weak: the coffee at 7 a.m. was lukewarm and not fresh brewed. The staff was not friendly when I suggested that they needed to brew fresh coffee. The oatmeal was lukewarm and runny. The staff was helpful but not friendly about my confusion as to where the back entrance to the motel was. We were recommended to go that way to bring luggage to the 2nd floor, but the entrance from both the inside and the outside of the hotel was hidden. When I could not find it (and my son called from the car outside because he couldn't find it either), the staff member helped me but seemed annoyed. All in all, we slept well, but the room was WAY overpriced and the staff not friendly, and I would not stay there again.
