We stayed at the cabin in Nov 2023. And had a wonderful time. What made the trip so memorable was getting recommendations from the owner Amy when she came to the cabin stoking the outside heater that piped in heat to cabin. Cannot over emphasize the need to do research on places to explore while there, because this cabin is in a very rural area. Amy's recommendations on where we should visit meant everything. Quiz her on that. I encouraged her to place in the cabin a list of Must See's / Must Do's to make the stay more incredible - without a plan, you are VERY remote - you need a plan on where to go, what to see, restaurant to visit, etc. This place is absolutely magic - but you need a plan on what to do while there to make it so. Or, if you just want to stay in cabin to unwind, no better place. Small stream with trout wrap around the property. I caught / released 2 rainbow trout with fly rod, but only fished a few minutes. I live on flat land in Virginia, so the mountain views while driving the roads were breathtaking to me. You like deer? They are everywhere. The beauty in these mountains, yes, there is a Creator - and that Creator loves you. God Bless.

Little Zenith Cabin
This little cabin is situated on a beautiful piece land.Sitting on the front porch you hear turkeys and birds and can watch the squirrels foraging for food.This authentic log cabin was everything we hoped for. Amy is a great hostess. I would recommend this cabin to anyone

Our amazing country getaway weekend
Our experience at the cabin was everything and more than we were expecting! Authentic, cozy and is as advertised. We enjoyed many walks around the wooded property and sat by the stream. Amy couldn’t be a better host and she sure has set everything up in and around the cabin to fully enjoy the experience. Her heart is in it. She even had Halloween lights up so the ghouls we brought felt at home too! Highly recommend.

I’d rate this 10 out of 5 stars. It exceeded our expectations. Meeting Amy and Cookie was an unexpected treat. These two friendly, vivacious and hard working ladies have put together an unexpected little slice of heaven masked as a cabin retreat. Not only is the cabin sparking clean and must free, it is decorated exquisitely. As small as the cabin was, we didn’t feel cramped up or downstairs. The bed we used was very comfortable and the items in the kitchen (coffee maker) were perfect for our needs. We spent some time outside on the front porch and by the fire pit drinking coffee and almost every car that went by honked and/or waved which tells you how wonderful the people in this area are. We also took Cookie’s advice and went to Calico Cafe for lunch and can easily see why people flock there from all over. We will be back to this hidden gem and highly recommend staying here. Thank you Amy and Cookie!

Birthday Getaway
I booked the retreat cabin for my boyfriend and I to celebrate his birthday as last year was a let down for him. We absolutely love the log cabin and being out in the woods. We just wished the weather would have cooperated with us, so we could have been outside more. I didn't mind being next too the road but would have preferred being further in the woods. We had a lovely time together and it was a nice little break from normal life. We are expecting our first child in September, we we are trying to rake time for ourselves before we become a family of 3. Amy is wonderful and she was always just a message away! We will definitely be back for another stay!!! Thank you Amy 😊

Peaceful Getaway
This is our second stay it is nice and quiet, throughly enjoyed our stay. It is secluded & owners are very nice. Everybody is friendly. We recommend this place 5⭐️, it is simple place though lots of charm. A nice fire pit & outdoor hot tub, though at night you need strong flash lights. No ambient light around at all so very dark. We will be back.

Don’t Miss The Opportunity To Stay…
at Amy’s authentic Log Cabin!! This cabin is circa 1800’s and with the exception of the addition of comforts such as; a full kitchen (stocked with anything you could possibly need) a bathroom and a claw foot bathtub located right in your bedroom, one still gets the total rustic experience of staying in an 1800’s log cabin. The cabin was clean and the linens were freshly washed and fragrant! The acreage is absolutely beautiful and the spring fed year round creek, which is located behind the property is, in my humble opinion, the icing on the proverbial cake!! The kids, dogs and the adults will find hours of play, peace and serenity there. Go ahead and book your stay with confidence! Amy will meet your every need with a smile and a down home way that is seldom experienced anymore! After you enjoy Amy’s cabin, be sure to book your next stay at Amy’s cottage which is nearby and affords an experience of being near a working farm (cows, sheep, horse, dogs and cats) along with deer, turkeys and plenty of room to roam Peters Mountain!

Owners very nice, cabin clean, yeah it appears to be tucked back into the woods in the pictures while in reality it is near the road. With that it is not a busy road at all so that is not an issue. I would stay again without hesitation. It is a nice break being away from everything where this cabin is located.

A peaceful, tranquil definitive get-away
If your goal is quiet, peace and to unplug (that is, no mobile phone coverage), then you've come to the right spot. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and wanted several days away from it all. The property and the owner (who lives near by, but not too near) were exactly what we needed. We were so pleasantly surprised by this hidden WV area.

Wonderful people… like some of the nicest owners/people you will ever meet. Sweet little cabin and good access to some great trout fly fishing waters. Cabin was over the top clean, comfortable, and close to Union for some more West Virginia hospitality. Moco diner was excellent. Abundance of great wildlife around.

Lovely cabin in the woods
This is a lovely cabin in the woods that is fairly close to a road (but not too much traffic on the road) and everyone who passes by waves! There's a creek behind the property which is a short walk down a path. The house was tidy and had everything that we needed to have a couple of days rest in the woods.

Idyllic retreat
Perfect little cabin for a quiet and peaceful getaway. Amy was the ideal host and was able to help us out with a generator and dinner suggestions during a brief power outage from a storm. We really appreciated her flexibility with our vacation. The area is very rural and peaceful, and the stream across the back of the property was a favorite activity for our dog. We also enjoyed several hikes, including up to Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory. Be sure to pick up charcoal/lighter fluid/matches if you plan on using the outdoor grill.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at the cabin, Amy is an awesome host! The location was very convenient to hiking, creek sitting, and caving. Highly recommend it if you are looking for a place to unplug, sit by the fire, step back from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and relax on the porch swing. Oh and yes there is high-speed wifi that my kids were VERY happy to have 😆

Was an absolutely wonderful experience. If a mountain get away is what you intend then this place is it. Property was perfect and the fire pit made the experience all the better. From sitting on the front porch early morning watching the deer to sitting by a fire listening to the stream this had it all. Stay was absolutely wonderful and would love to go back. Cabin was just as described-Best part was I had immediate and unrestricted contact with local owner (who was a fantastic host!) regarding any questions or requests. This is sorely missing in other VRBO properties where the “middle man”/property managers are not doing their jobs. Hidden gem by the creek
Amy and Tim's cabin was a treasure at the base of Peters Mountain. The cabin was beautiful and very clean. It sits on 8 forested acres and it is like going back in history once you get there. There are a few really cool historic items on the property, with the best at the very back of the property, a very cool and clean mountain stream that is prefect for wading or taking a dip! So relaxing! I am from WV and have visited every county in the state, but this was my first trip to Monroe County. I went for a few days of R&R and some hiking along the Appalachian Trail and Allegheny Trail. This cabin was perfect for both. It sits about halfway between both Trailheads. It was about 10 miles (25 minutes) from the Groundhog Trail that leads up to the AT and about 6 miles (18 minutes) to the Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory and the Allegheny Trail. The Raptor Observatory is a must see (so cool)! I also visited Moncove Lake State Park, also a beautiful place to visit and about a half-hour away. The best part about all of this was the well deserved dip in the creek after a long day on the trail!! In general, I found Monroe County one of the prettiest places I have visited in WV. The high mountains and the long mountain valleys full of farmland reminded me of pictures of Switzerland or Austria. The town of Union was full of history and charm. I fully recommend a visit to this hidden gem in the WV mountains!

We loved staying at Amy's cabin! She was very friendly and when we had a little snafu with the water she was responsive and helpful. The area is absolutely gorgeous and the cabin is cozy and comfortable. We were able to cook several meals in the kitchen and take a lovely walk around the property. Both of the beds and the shower are in the upstairs loft together so be prepared for a little intimacy! We would stay here again and we would love to rent from Amy again!

Lovely little cabin in the beautiful WV countryside
It's situated in the beautiful countryside, is equipped with everything you need, it's clean and the beds are comfy. Lewisburg is just over 20 miles away and the drive there is a pretty one. There's a variety of very good restaurants there as well as pubs and nice little shops. Go to the Salt Cave just outside of White Sulphur Springs. Sit in the Himalayan salt cave and breathe in the therapeutic, healing salt mist air for just $15! Helps with sinus issues, snoring and respiratory problems. Eat at Cook's Kitchen - real good home style food! Grandma's pinto beans are wonderful! Also worth visiting is the Beartown boardwalk state park. Takes about 25 minutes To walk the boardwalk

Perfect for going off the grid
This cabin is sweet and the photos don't do it justice. My husband and I were looking for a place where we could unplug and restore, and we couldn't have found a better place. A creek runs along the property, and we and our dog walked it several times a day. Other hiking trails are very nearby. We made use of the gas grill and the fire pit while there. We found plenty of wood on the grounds for our "camp fire." Due to Covid, we brought our food/groceries from home and cooked in every night. Kitchen was fairly well- stocked, though we were glad we'd brought our knives and a grater. The owners were not available, but many thanks to Cookie who greeted us and Dave who stoked the outside wood furnace twice daily. Location was perfect for an unplugged getaway.

We really enjoyed our time at the cabin. There is a small oven/stove and a full size fridge, which was great for meal prep! Owner and sisters were super nice. The bathroom was a bit of a challenge as my husband is 6’6”, so just a heads up to other tall folks! We loved the outdoor fire pit and really enjoyed walking down and sitting by the creek. Beautiful West Virginia woods. This was definitely a rustic cabin experience, and if you’re prepared for it, it’s totally charming. Just what we were looking for. Be prepared to lose cell service for the last 15-20 minutes of your drive!

Lovely weekend
My daughters and I had a wonderful stay. The Cabin was clean and had all the necessary items. It is a rustic cabin and that’s what I was expecting. My daughter enjoyed a long soak in the old fashion tub. Our dog enjoyed hanging out in the back yard and stream and ran around for hours. I enjoyed sitting in a Hamic that I brought there’s plenty of trees spaced just right near the stream. You won’t get cell phone signal and there is no Wi-Fi however you can do a 6 mile drive up the mountain and get great reception if you really need it. I actually enjoyed being unplugged. As others have said the cabin is right on the road however I didn’t feel that the road was busy at all. I think maybe we saw 10 cars drive by all weekend. Behind the cabin is a lot of land to walk around and enjoy. Easy to have my dog off leash and get a good run in.

A Special Place
What a spot. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk to the cemetery down the road as well as exploring the back roads. The river on property is a special place and with the other cabin on property being in the midst of rebuild it gave it a creepy vibe that was perfect for the fall season. The leaves were on point. The cabin had much to check out in terms of decorations, decour and all the small touches. You will miss things. Great fire each night and I recommend checking on the Raptor Observatory for a nice short day hike.
