Pros: location, and clean rooms very quiet
Cons: cut the cost a bit
Location: plenty to do with Science Centre close, malls, food.etc.etc
pleased with our accomodation eventhough the hotel was filled to capacity with "ravers"..staff were very helpful

Best one to stay calm...I liked it a lot. AC was not that good. Nice swimming pool. Spacious rooms.

Nice, modern hotel with a few quirks

Pros: Two pools, breakfast delivery and full menu. Room prices kept low by offering value-added options and perks for people willing to pay for them.
Cons: A re-paint, and a complete sanitation of the air in the hotel. More staff at the front desk.
Location: Right next to the DVP, very close to the Ontario Science Centre, short trip to downtown TO.
We had a very nice stay at the Don Valley Hotel. The hotel had a lot of perks to it, much of which we didn't use because of the short stay. It does have two pools, one being an indoor, the other an outdoor. There was a restaurant on-site, at least three elevators if I remember correctly, and a fancy modern lobby. The room was welcoming and comfortable. They offer breakfast delivery to your room, at a time you specify, for an added charge. There was also a food menu- as many hotels have. Now for some of the quirks Coming in from a hot summer day, the room was pretty warm. It took the A/C quite a while to catch up. The bed was firm. That was no problem with me, but it will probably bother some people. Most of the hotel including our room had a musky smell to it. It definitely bothered me during the stay, although it is not too overpowering. Some of the walls of the common hotel area could of used paint; there were dings and scuffs here and there that were an eyesore. The on-site ground level parking was full when I arrived (late at night), although there were spaces available in the underground garage. There was no fridge or microwave in the room, these are added charges if you need them. One very odd thing- they put bottles of water in our hotel room, with a surcharge per bottle if you open them. There was no free breakfast included, and the on-site parking isn't free either. We also didn't have a patio, as it was only available for the lower four or so levels.

Better than expected

I read some of the previous reviews and I was hesitant about my stay. However, my room was very comfortable, clean, with a flat screen TV and all the amenities I could want. Air conditioner was superb. Bed very comfortable. It was quiet with no outside noises yet the hotel was full and busy. The staff were knowledgeable, patient, and willing to please all visitors. Pools were clean and well managed. Restaurant food was good. I would return.

Overall Impression of Don Valley Hotel

Front desk staff: friendly Room: basic and simple. Found bobby pins on carpet so not thorough with cleaning. Toilet: basic but clean We didn't use the hotel's other facilities so can't make comment on them.

Not what I expected.

While the staff was great, the room itself left a lot to be desired. The air conditioning was broken and it was cooler to open the door to a 90 degree day. It was so humid in the room the floor stayed wet.

The smell in the hall ways was terrible. My sliding glass door wouldn't open without a struggle. The food was not great. Some of the staff was helpful but there were a few that were clueless. I think it is crazy to pay for a room and pay for parking. The poolside had food and ants by it...Nasty. The elevators rarely came, I used the steps most of the time. The internet was not high speed as told. I would never stay there again, nor would I let my friends. But, I will return to Canada, but not there.
