Overall, it was a good stay. It was a nice little apartment, really appreciated that there was laundry and dishwasher in a very compact space. Everything was quite new and nicely appointed, but it was a bit sparse - only a few cups and glasses, 3 forks, that kind of thing. And there were only two dishwasher detergent tablets for a stay of 7 days, and no liquid dish soap or drying towel. So that made it harder to keep up with dishes and tidying up - my message to the host is to please either leave more tablets, or more dishes, or both. And maybe a French press or some other method for coffee, we really dislike the Keurig machine. Some sort of drapes in the bedroom to cut the early morning light would also be much appreciated. It's also a bit of a trick figuring out building access, but the location is very good otherwise.

Property photos are massively misleading. Wasted use of space. Bathroom a bit grotty. 2 closets, some hangers, no drawers or shelves to put clothes away. Lived out of my suitcase for a week. Now I get why there are no refunds in cancellations. Not worth the money.

Excellent location, near University of Toronto and various shopping districts. Close to public transit. Very responsive staff. The only downsides were: 1) the room was far too warm (74 degrees F) and we were told that the temperature was controlled centrally. The staff did bring an electric fan and there was one window that opened but it was not comfortable. 2) parking is a hassle - very challenging to find and when we left we got conflicting info about where to put the pass. First we were told that we’d need it to exit the lot, then told we should have left it in the room when we checked out. So we had to jockey to find a place for one of us to wait while the other ran back into the hotel to place the pass in the room we’d left. Otherwise, great stay.

As far as I can tell, the “Avalon hotel“ owns a few condos in the building and rents them out. The concierge does not work for the hotel, and the staff, who are pleasant and helpful, are not on site outside the posted hours, unless you pay $50 to be checked in after 10 PM. The Avalon does not have any control over the temperature of the condos, and the thermostats in the units don’t work, but staff advised me to just open the window, which regulated the temperature well enough. The unit was clean and well-maintained. The kitchenette includes a Nespresso coffee machine and a small dishwasher in addition to the usual appliances. The washer/dryer broke down partway through the wash cycle, and staff did not know how to fix it, but I am not surprised that was outside their field of expertise. The building is centrally located and convenient to absolutely everything. It also has a gym furnished with pretty much everything you will need. An enjoyable stay.

The property is very acessible, 2 TTC stations nearby if you don't have a car. Close to whole foods, and several dining areas. All in all, experience is great. It was not communicated to us that airconditioning is not turned on during winter, i stayed in early Feb 2024, which is not too cold--we had a warm winter, and for a person with hot flushes, it is not great. So it was a bit warm in the room and we had to leave the door ajar so colder air can come inside the room. Only 1 window can be opened slightly. Washer was also dirty when i tried to use it, so i had to clean it, and the valve for the water was turned off, so i had to download the washer manual in order to figure out why it was not working. All in all, experience was great, fast response from the staff. Just some miscommunication. Will definitely stay again, but maybe in the summertime so there is airconditioning.

Unfortunately, my stay at the Avalon suites has not been a good experience to say the very least. I originally booked the 2/2 presidential suite; and instead received something else. Far-fetched from the pictures in my booking. When I complained about it not being what I paid for, the rental manager offered to provide me a curtain to divide the living room in a second bedroom/ privacy. I originally paid for an early check-in, but because of the mix up, we didn’t get to check in until the regular check in time. My party and I had to stay in separate rooms and due to the mix up. And because of the key fob settings in the elevators, it has become impossible for the rest of my group and I to meet up. The suite I am currently staying in is relatively smaller than the average deluxe room at any other hotel and space is very limited for 2 people. The bathroom sink water smelled like raw sewage and the toilet water pressure is extremely low. After checking in, we noticed our room was a bit hot. We were told the building controls the AC and if we were hot, to open a window. The room only had one window with the ability to open and it was super small. Big enough to rid the room of humidity but too small to cool the room down. Our room also had electrical outlets that was not working. I was forced to charge my phone at night on the kitchen countertop rather than the usual night stand. The room closet was so small, my carry-on luggage couldn’t fit through the door.

Great location with easy access to TTC and other modes of transportation. Excellent dining options and other services. Two things that were disappointing. One, there were no washcloths in the bathroom, only hand and bath towels. Two, there was no clothes storage (dresser) in the sleeping area. I had to keep my clothes in a cabinet in the kitchen area. These are small points, but inconvenient nonetheless.
