It is a cheap and comfortable stay. Clean and quiet place except the ceiling fan was extremely dirty - so much we did not want to turn it on.

Very centralized downtown Sydney. Walking distance to a lot of attractions as well as public transportation options are great nearby. It is great to have somewhere to put your stuff away and to sleep. Excellent place to stay for single travelers as well as for those traveling with friends. There is a bar downstairs too

Noisy Homeless outside window overnight , changing of empty kegs at 6 am. Room smelt nice upon arrival but after 1 day smelt of cigarette smoke. Old carpet needs to be replaced might get rid of odour. Good location and good value for price. Staff very helpful. Love the history of the building.

Rooms felt like a halfway house. No internet in rooms. Bathrooms were deplorable and hot water took forever to activate.

Very good stay . Directly in the heart of Sydney. If you have ear plugs it is a great location. A bit loud at night . Beds very comfortable. Good showers and bathroom.Easy check in and check out . I would definitely recommend it for a a short stay to visit Sydney.

This hotel is affordable and clean. What we like the most is the location. The hotel is very close to the Opera house and other attractions.

The hotel was well located for what I wanted to do in the CBD with pricing that is great value for money... the bar was very entertaining ... typical Australiana with a great bunch of patrons and attentive staff..

The Occidental Hotel is a great option for easy access to trains, buses and trams in the city centre. 2 tram stops from Circular Quay. Check-in was simple. My room was spacious and clean, my bed was comfortable and I was happy to have a private en-suite bathroom. I wasn't too happy with one blind that didn't move up or down or a half roll of toilet paper for my 2-night stay. Although the room had a toaster and microwave, no cutlery or plates were provided. The bar area was very busy on Friday and Saturday night.

Be aware this is on a very busy corner and it's quite noisy so bring earplugs. Bed was very comfortable and room was clean and satisfactory, as were shared baths. Good hot showers. Great option for staying close to the Rocks if you're on a budget and bring those earplugs!

Excellent location for an older style hotel, staff is very helpful. Just a little bit noisy at night because our room is close to the street. Advise install double glazing to improve.

Very central for getting around, both light rail and train close by. Lift to access rooms. Staff helpful. Pub rooms comfortable. Not fancy but great for the price

Walking down to showers Draws in wardrobe were hanging off.Dirty carpets,which were going to be replaced.Hadnt been cleaned properly, bottle tops on floor,coudnt see through window for dirt.very dirty in sink cabinet,coudnt put our toiletries on there kept in our suitcase.3 people booked,only 2 towels,had to find someone to ask for another.Very disappointed, would not recommend.

It was surprisingly clean. Also in relatively good nick. Check in with smooth and you're allowed to leave your bags there before checking also a good aspect. With the Expedia points it was incredibly inexpensive and totally Central to Sydney city. The only tiny grip I had was that the hot water very early in the morning in the bathroom took a full 10 minutes to come through. I am not normally a shared bathroom person but I did not see any other person in the bathroom area while I was there. The food there looked like good quality pub food but I chose to eat elsewhere. Transport to Sydney domestic airport in the morning very early was efficient and the train station is a short walk from the hotel. There was not a cattle to make coffee and tea but a microwave that you can easily heat water in in a cup anyway.

Not a bad stay for the price, it's quite an old building, so there were expected creaks. Easy check in and out. The aircon was making a really loud sound, but when i raised it to the staff, they got it fixed promptly. The toilets and shower was clean. TV had internet and could browse youtube. No iron and board in the room, but when I asked for them, they were provided. Slept like a baby on the bed. Overall I think it's good value for the price I paid.

The property has worn carpets, threadbare in parts. The corners of the rooms had not been cleaned for a while. But the beds were clean and the aircon was good. Only 2 shared female toilets for the whole floor, with spaces between the locks where anyone can see through.

Great pub & I enjoyed their food. Very busy & loud of course. Clean & tidy. Maybe some more hooks or shelves in the shared ladies bathrooms please. Great value for money. I recommend for under fifties and the young at heart.

Good all rounder
The hotel was located directly across from train station within walking distance to everything. The hotel is old but has character. It was a little bit noisey at around tea time but was fine by about 8pm. But overall i thought for the price it was great

A good budget option
I thought this was a good deal for the price. Its key attractions are the low room rate and its location within Sydney CBD, within easy walking distance (for a fit person) to the Rocks, Circular Quay, Bangaroo and Darling Harbour. Whilst the bathroom is shared, I never had to wait for a toilet or shower. The room was a good size, had some amenities (wash basin, kettle, TV, fan) and the bed was comfortable. We slept with the window open. I used a set of ear plugs at night.

Apart from the location everything was terrible I would not suggest to stay again No cleaning at all we stay three nights not a single day they replace the towels the air conditioner was so noisy wouldn’t let us sleep
