I had a "compact room" on the second floor. It was small, but it was very adequate. The whole place was quite charming, and everyone -- staff and guests -- were very friendly and welcoming. I was traveling on a whim -- had a free night after a conference and decided to spend the night on the Isle of Wight. Took the train to Portsmouth, the ferry to Ryde, and the tiny train to Shanklin. If you like Annie & Clarabel from Thomas the Tank Engine, you'll love the tiny train!
The Inn was about a 10-15 minute walk downhill from the train station. Coming back, I took the stairs up from the beach. Breakfast was big, delicious, and included in the room price.
This is not a 5-star hotel. It's not even a modern hotel, but I found it to be very charming. Time permitting, I would have brought my son and husband back there when they arrived in London two days later. Alas, our agenda was already packed.
