Due to our travel itinerary, we arrived at Kirkinca early and before they had the room ready. The host was very welcoming and served us refreshments from their terrace (which had excellent views of the mountain in which the village is hidden) and talked to us about the area and about where everything was around town, such as the "pool in the jungle" and where to eat. The next thing we knew, the room was ready and they helped us with our luggage to our room, which was clean and cozy. They provided for a reasonable fee a friendly driver/tour guide for our visit to Ephesus. One thing that really stood out was that our guide was not the type to push us to buy things like some others do, but just generally a friendly person willing to help out with whatever you wanted. The Turkish breakfast they served was very fresh and "homestyle." There is a limited selection of restaurants in the village, but the food, fruit wine, and service are memorable. Overall, Kirkinca provided the comfort and service we expected on top of the great memories we had of that area. Although it's hidden away in the mountains and is not as easily accessible as hotels in Izmir or Selcuk, this is a great place to get away from the ordinary and enjoy some of the finest that Turkey has to offer.
