We had an amazing stay and the room was beautiful. We decided to stay and have the evening meal and it was all delicious especially the fish and chips . We’ve book to go back in march I would highly recommended Wrea Head Hall for a stay .

Everything was just perfect. The only thing that was needed was another shelf in the bathroom as we were unable to get all our toilet items on the one provided so had to leave them on the floor.

Wrea Head Hall: beautifully comfortable & charming
The hotel was every bit as impressive and charming as the photos on the website suggested. Every member of staff encountered was both friendly and helpful. The room was beautifully clean, the bed comfortable and the bathroom facilities were excellent. We did not dine in the evening, but the breakfast was superb. We took breakfast in the library, one of several fascinatingly decorated rooms that purveyed a great sense of calm and style. The grounds we walked in were beautifully maintained. You may gather we were impressed.

Our room was lovely and extremely clean with very attractive decor, a comfortable bed and a great bathroom. Being newly built in a courtyard block there were one or two adjustments needed, but they are aware of this and are about to deal with it. The food was very good and the service excellent though the size of the food portions varied quite a lot, with some a little on the small side. The move to menu choices on a tick list as opposed to buffet at breakfast is fine and was very efficient. As rooms are not being serviced at the moment a tick list for replacing toiletries, tea, milk etc would be helpful. Staff are always pleasant and helpful.

The public areas are as shown in the photographs, a beautiful old hall set in lovely grounds. Sadly my bedroom did not match this. The room was very small and the window looked directly onto a wall and drainpipes, The shower area was very mouldy, there were dirty marks and damp stains on the walls and the toilet roll holder was falling off the wall. At £170 this was definetly not good value nor the luxury I had expected. Also, I had emailed the hotel and left a telephone message prior to my visit, neither of which were replied to. The staff were efficiently friendly. I would not recommend this hotel.

Good room and service (we were in carriage house). Let down by disappointing dinner and breakfast - kitchen trying too hard and can’t quite execute to the desired standard. Omelette was rubbery in the centre and toast burnt.

Had only one real problem with our stay here and that was I did not get in the bath tub that was shown in the pictures on hotels.com booking as I was informed by the general manager when you go through a third party you are guaranteed a room class but not guaranteed a particular room therefore even though I got a superior double I did not get a bath tub I had a shower instead. I was informed by the general manager that if I wanted to specify an actual room I would have to contact the hotel and make the booking directly. The room we had was truly luxurious with original windows so had an excellent view. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and the food was superb we also had breakfast the next morning which was also very very good especially the eggs Benedict‘s. Might not stay again in a room that is £240 a night without a nice bath tub but can’t argue that we enjoyed our time here.

This is a fabulous place to relax with beautiful grounds, excellent food and friendly staff. It’s only a few miles from Scarborough but is out in the country in its own grounds. The gardens are beautifully kept and quiet. The rooms are exceptional. The food is fantastic. The staff are friendly and their approach to Covid was strict and well organised. We will definitely be back!!

The room was clean and well appointed and the explained the new Covid requirements well. The service from the bar and breakfast wasn’t great. Wine we ordered at the bar, subsequently was different, we challenged we were flatly told it’s what we ordered!! And the pre ordered breakfast was wrong...... and table next to us was also wrong.....after being pre ordered! And it’s wasn’t busy

Great hotel, great staff and fab breakfast. It was a bit hard to control the temperature in my room. My room was big enough for me as a solo traveller but I wouldn’t recommend it for a couple. Some printed info in the room would help, eg breakfast times, dinner info, check out times, WiFi codes.

An oasis
I found this property by chance, but I will return gladly. It is a beautiful setting, grand stately home and a welcoming staff. I was fortunate to be able to get a reservation for dinner, and the food and the front of the house staff are as proficient and accommodating as anywhere I have stayed. The setting of the home is gorgeous, and the grounds immaculate. This was a lovely experience.

Nice property set in beautiful grounds. We enjoyed our stay but for the price expected a little more. No robes or slippers in room was disappointing and breakfast was OK without being great. Our room was slightly small, without a bath, but the bed was large and comfortable and the shower very good. Staff were friendly and helpful!
