Character Country Retreat with no contact check in/out, in historic 1066 country

With self check in and check out and situated in the owners’ 2 acre grounds which includes an orchard that guests can enjoy on their own, this attractive beamed, spacious detached character property is perfect for a relaxing break. The property is accessed via its own external oak open tread stairs. We have fibre broadband with the Little Brook WiFi router connected directly to it. It is wonderfully finished with a recently refurbished balcony off the living area affording countryside views and conveniently set back from the A28. There are many country walks directly from the property, several fine pubs are within a 5 - 15 minute drive and beaches are around a 20 minute drive away. Around 20 minutes to Battle, with its famous battlefield and abbey, built to commemorate the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Relive one of the most famous days in history, and join the 1066 walk. Take a trip on the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway from Tenterden, also known as ’The Jewel of the Weald’, through the Rother Levels to Bodiam, one of the most evocative moated castles (National Trust), built in 1385. Discover the one time coastal smuggling town of Hastings and medieval Cinque Port town of Rye just 8 miles away with its cobbled streets. Picturesque sand dunes and interesting wildlife can be explored at Camber Sands around 30 minutes away.

New Year getaway
Perfect out of the way, spacious but cosy property. Even though the weather was incredibly wet and windy, we had a lovely few days- combination of slobbing comfortably and visiting local places of interest!

Cute Place!
This place is very cute and cozy, in a very lovely location with parking on site. There's a kitchen if you want to cook for yourself, and it's a nice space to just hang out. My husband and I particularly enjoyed sitting outside and stargazing as we don't normally get those in London! The only things we didn't like was that there were spiders everywhere (thankfully my husband is willing to get rid of them) and also it would benefit from being a bit better stocked. They provided dish soap, but no handsoap in the bathroom and no rubbish bags. It also said tea and coffe was provided, but the instant coffee we found was very old. Overall enjoyed, but if i had been by myself with all those spiders it would have been a bigger problem for me.

An ideal location, comfortable too
My wife and I spent a week here, 5-12 June 2023, in order to explore this part of East Sussex. It was very comfortable, clean and well-equipped. The balcony was perfect for sunny breakfasts and for sundowners. As a central location for visiting neighbouring sites of interest (Battle Abbey, Bodiham Castle, etc.) it could not be bettered. Its location close to Hastings was a bonus as well, in our view one of the nicer coastal resorts in the south of England. The owners of the property were always close-by should anything happen (it didn’t!), but were not intrusive. We can highly recommend this property. It is ideal for a couple wishing to self-cater, have a relax and/or explore the wider area.
