“Plan to stay same time next year”
Air conditioning was a plus. Only needed after a real hot shower. My room had frig, microwave, and coffee maker but no coffee. Plan to bring coffee next time. Tip housekeeping daily rather than end of stay.
“Mosquito Beach”
I was there for a 5 day, 4 night stay in September. The hotel was gorgeous. The room does have modern decor but very clean. We had a room that faces the pool and an ocean view from the deck. There is a large table in the room that was plenty of room for our toiletries, beach gear, etc. The in room safe was a great feature as well as a fridge. There's a mini market across the street from the hotel that sells your daily supply of fresh water as well as any other beverages or snacks that you would want. The hotel is one block from 5th Avenue, with all the restaurants and shops. There's a great coffee place nearby as well with cafe seating on the street as well as Fusion, a great bar on the beach down from the hotel for a nightcap. The hotel itself has beach service with daily fresh towels, sandwiches (the chicken is outstanding)salads and pop. Although they were not up and running with alcohol yet, the hotel next door will wait on you for drinks. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and hope to make it back there myself!
“Can't wait to go back”
The hotel was perfect. Recently constructed though, it lacked a full bar, but did have some food service. Drinks etc were obtained by nearby hotels.
“Great boutique hotel right on the beach”
I really enjoyed my recent stay at Mosquito Beach. My friend and I (2 single girls) were there for 4 days in mid-Feb. The hotel is located right on the beach and within walking distance to Fifth Avenue where all the shops and restaurants are located. In front of the hotel on the beach, they have both chairs and beds that you can lounge on. the beds are pretty comfy, and the chairs have built in shades. We ate at the hotel for dinner one night and it was delicious. We also had breakfast at the hotel once, which was also quite good. The rooms - overall they were pretty comfortable. We had a breeze room, and had a partial view of the ocean and hotel pool area. 2 complaints about the room - the lighting wasn't great; there were no dressers to put anything in. One other thing to note, it rained really badly one of the nights we were there, and because of that the hotel restaurant was closed, and there was no room service. Luckily, there are restaurants very close by and the hotel provides huge umbrellas. The pool area is very cooly designed but i rarely noticed enough sun to actually spend time at the pool area. Overall, i had a great time at Mosquito Beach and would go back in a heartbeat!
“Just right for us”
The location on the beach was perfect. The wait staff at the beach were friendly and attentive. The hotel was very open to letting us change rooms to a more quiet location. Be aware that during some parts of the day that Police do not let taxis and vans cross 5th Ave. to reach the hotel. You may have to walk 2 blocks.
“Great boutique hotel in Playa”
The staff and location were wonderful at this beach-front hotel. We were allowed to use any services at it's sister hotel, Mosquito Blue, and after seeing that place definitely thought Mosquito Beach was the premiere option. Our only complaint was somewhat dark interior of the room and the most uncomfortable (albeit "modern") toilet in the world. Overall, a great experience and a good value.
“Excellent Hotel! Very Modern....”
Mosquito Beach is a great place for couples. I loved this hotel. There is an odor but my wife and I found it mostly pleasant and beachy. The hotel is visually stunning, very modern. If you find that you are uncomfortable in modern minimalist surroundings this may not be the hotel for you. I was very happy to find a hotel that caters to my aesthetic. The desk and guest services staff were extremely helpful. Mosquito Beach is located on a great section of the beach and very close to 5th avenue but not so close that you can hear it.. The staff on the Beach was fantastic, I miss my Breakfast on the beach, and the Omelets were truly excellent. If you get up in time for breakfast make sure you let your server know that you would like to head to the beach afterward and they will get you all set up while you eat. The prices on the beach were very reasonable.
“Excelent hotel, and place to visit”
Very nice location
“mosquito beach”
We read a million reviews of every hotel in the area and to be honest we were not sure what to expect when we got to playa del carmen but I am happy to say that Mosquito Beach was very nice. It's modern, clean, the breakfast is delicious, and the beach is a stones throw away. We had read that the rooms were small but there was plenty of room for the 2 of us, our clothes, and my guitar. It was quiet at night and the staff was very helpful. Playa del carmen is lovely but it is certainly a major tourist destination. There are very nice restaurants, hotel and resorts, great beaches, and people from all over the world. But if I could do it again I think that I would stay in Tulum. Tulum is also a popular destination but we saw fewer hotels, fewer people, and the beaches were breath taking! It just seemed like a more secluded, quiet, and romantic spot. The ruins of Tulum and Coba are very nearby and its easy to get to Playa and other destinations by car. Either way you can't go wrong. Playa is exciting and bustling with tourism Tulum is more laid back. Have a great trip!!!
“New home away from home!”
Love the atmosphere at Mosquito Beach. Was able to walk 20 paces in one directio to the beach and a half block in the other direction to restaurants, shops and nightlife. Suite was more like a large room than a true "suite", but still great accomodations for the price. Will definitely go back, but may try a larger room on the next visit. Bathroom was very unique - square toilet, cool shower. Room could use a bit more optional lighting, a dresser (or place to unpack your things) and maybe a mirror.
