Providenciales

Travel Guide
Providenciales which includes a sunset and boating
This tropical island is a sunny haven for travelers with its luxury resorts, pristine white beaches and stunning coral reefs.

With beautiful beaches, large coral reefs and unspoiled national parks, the island of Providenciales is the perfect destination for a tropical getaway. Enjoy luxury resort accommodations, fresh local seafood, and water activities such as scuba diving and snorkeling.

Known by the locals as Provo, Providenciales is one of the most popular of the Turks and Caicos Islands, which form part of the British West Indies. Since a major development boom in the 1980s, the island has become a popular tourist destination, with resorts, restaurants, watersports and a golf course.

Visit the beautiful Grace Bay Beach on the north coast. Go snorkeling for a closer look at the coral reef. Walk along the 12-mile (19.3-kilometer) stretch of white sand and enjoy unparalleled ocean views. Visit Turtle Cove, a marina where you can take a relaxing stroll and admire the moored boats and yachts.

Marvel at the island’s remarkable coastline at the Northwest Point National Park. Explore the rugged north coast and discover a thriving ecosystem at the pond reserve park, which is home to a variety of local wildlife, including flamingos and herons. Head east to Princess Alexandra National Park, a marine preserve where you can spot iguanas and turtles. Protection of the native habitat is very important here, and littering and fishing are punishable by a prison sentence.

Dine at one of the many restaurants or resorts on the island, such as Da Conch Shack on the western side of the island. This popular seafood restaurant is located right on the beach and has welcomed many guests, including rock stars, over the years. Enjoy a plate of conch fritters with a glass of rum punch while you admire the spectacular beachfront views.

Providenciales is a 90-minute flight from Miami. Providenciales International Airport is located in the center of the island, just a 15-minute drive from Grace Bay Beach. There is no public transportation on the island, so renting a car for your stay is recommended.

My 5th trip to Providenciales. Sadly I have seen a change in the island over the last few years. More crimes, island is dirtier etc. I still love the island and hope things turn around

Highly recommend Turtle Tail Beach! It was our favourite. Hard to find though! And our best meal was at Somewhere Cafe on Grace Bay Beach. The Dirty Fries (Pulled pork with peppers, onion, and cheese, on a bed of fries) were incredible!

It's not the cheapest island... things can be a little expensive. But the beaches are beautiful and many of the restaurants are excellent... highly recommend Grace's Cottage restaurant.
